The CIA is not forbidden by law from killing anyone.

I agree. CIA is by law forbiden to kill anyone, the National Intelligence Agency is suppose to be only adivsory. Yet we see these agency coninuly violating out laws. Our government state we are a nation of laws yet the same government violates these laws for their own purpose, making us hipocrates at least.

The CIA is under no such law.

There is no such thing as the National Intelligence Agency.

Hippocrates is the ancient Greek physician.

Executive Order 11,905 stated that “No employee of the United States Government shall engage in, or conspire to engage in, political assassinations.”

Political not national security. That means no shooting national leaders or political party leaders. It has absolutely nothing to do with exterminating al Qaeda.

Nosathro -> RE: TERROR - US Two U.S.-Born Terrorists Killed in CIA-Led Drone Strike (10/8/2011 2:12:51 PM)

There is no state of war by congress nor can the White House produce any evidence of active participation in an attack. I would agrue the killing of Anwar al-Awlaki and Khan were political.

Nosathro -> RE: TERROR - US Two U.S.-Born Terrorists Killed in CIA-Led Drone Strike (10/8/2011 2:20:05 PM)

A Newpaper editor and Speaker....wonder how they are a threat national security. I wonder that is why the Bill of Rights First Admendment cover freedom of speech.

Were either involved in politics? No. so how could their killings be political?

And there is evidence of both their involvement in attacks. Al-awlaki was in contact with Nidal Hasan and Umar Abdulmutallab before each carried out their attacks. Khan's articles and blog posts included explicit directions on making bomsand direct calls for readers to engage in murder bombings.

Nosathro -> RE: TERROR - US Two U.S.-Born Terrorists Killed in CIA-Led Drone Strike (10/8/2011 4:33:05 PM)

The White has claimed there were meetings however has not presented any evidence Anwar did have any meetings with Nidal and Umar, nor what the topic of meetings were, they have refused to supply any evidence of any kind. As to Khan, freedom speech still covers all of what he did. You should also look and see how much information on making bombs is valable, in stores and the internet so why aren't the drones being used on them?. They don't have to be involved in politiics, however yes they did support a polictical agenda. For your information, when any Government, takes action such as killing a person, without the benefit of law it is political, this also includes making commemts about that the government does not find favorable.

DomKen -> RE: TERROR - US Two U.S.-Born Terrorists Killed in CIA-Led Drone Strike (10/8/2011 4:37:20 PM)

You haven't gotten a single fact right yet. why are you even continuing to spout nonsense?

Khan was already indicted for his actions and al-Awlaki was wanted in every country he'd ever spent any time in. They were terrorists and not politicians nor part of any political party therefore the EO covering political assasinations simply does not apply.

Nosathro -> RE: TERROR - US Two U.S.-Born Terrorists Killed in CIA-Led Drone Strike (10/8/2011 6:53:08 PM)

I do not recall any requirement to either hold office or be a member of a political party to have a political opinion. There is no evidence that Khan was wanted anywhere. In fact the White House now claims he was a target, just at the wrong place at the wrong time. As to al-Awlaki if he was wanted, why was he not extrodiated? In fact al-Awalaki was invited and spent time meeting with officals in the Pentagon to develop good relationships with Muslusm

Secret U.S. Memo Made Legal Case to Kill a Citizen

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration’s secret legal memorandum that opened the door to the killing of Anwar al-Awlaki, the American-born radical Muslim cleric hiding in Yemen, found that it would be lawful only if it were not feasible to take him alive, according to people who have read the document.

The memo, written last year, followed months of extensive interagency deliberations and offers a glimpse into the legal debate that led to one of the most significant decisions made by President Obama — to move ahead with the killing of an American citizen without a trial.

I have to wonder at the mentality of someone that is willing to speak up for a terrorist, just to belittle and convict his president

farglebargle -> RE: TERROR - US Two U.S.-Born Terrorists Killed in CIA-Led Drone Strike (10/8/2011 7:09:47 PM)

It's nothing new. Republicans have been conspiring with terrorists against the USA since before Reagan's election...

Where were you while Bush was in office? [8|]

Firm

When Bush was in office it was about strapping people who haven't been charged with any crime to tables and drowning them.

Patriot act says CIA can wack people on its hitlist. Don't like it? Complain to your congressman about the law...

Thats the New York Times, not exactly a bastion of Conservatism.

At least theyre being more consistent than the average lefist, they also spoke up for Saddam Hussein and his bloodthirsty sons. While he may not have been a terrorist, how many millions do you suppose he responsible for killing, maiming, raping, and torturing?

And youre confused about what the controversy is about, its not that Obama had a couple of "terrorists" killed. He had American citizens killed, without the benefit of a trial. No one is speaking up for terrorists or terrorism, its the rule of law that is being spoken for.

Having a political opinion does not make you a political leader. Which is what we're talking about. These two wastes of flesh were members of al Qaeda, a group that had murdered thousands of americans intentionally and both were involved in trying to recruit people to commit more acts of violence. Neither had ever stood for political office in an election nor were either working for a political party.

We do not have an extradition treaty with Yemen and Yemen, who wanted him as well, was unable to capture him anyway. He was invited to a Pentagon luncheon in 2002 well before his involvement with al Qaeda became known.

Nosathro -> RE: TERROR - US Two U.S.-Born Terrorists Killed in CIA-Led Drone Strike (10/8/2011 10:25:19 PM)

I would be interested in having this memo made public as well as the legal opinions that justified this. Also I would be interested in what did the government do in attempting to capture al-Awlaki. The US has asked in the past to have people in Yeman extradated to the US, most were unsuccessful. No matter what al-Awlaki is accused of he is a born US citizen and has the rights extended to all US Citizens. That includes the right to a trial and face his accusers. The government denied this. Somehow knowing that a no name panel of government bureaucrats, no supervision, no oversight, no accountablity, deciding who lives and who dies, regardless of what the laws say, scare me more than any terrorist could. I still wonder who is next.

So you are saying religious leaders are then fair game?

Define national leaders. Are you talking about those in power or in opposition? What in your mind defines political party?

Who can or cannot be targeted by The United States, in an undeclared war?
