From what I'm reading, Erie, the protesters are pretty clueless themselves, but having Susan Sarandon and Michael Moore show up, and the goonions offering their "support" (read co-opting whatever energy is there to a political agenda they approve of) doesn't much inspire me.

I don't think the protesters are clueless, Heretic. I think people are angry and have gathered to show their anger. The fact that it is so unorganized, in that there are no demands the protesters can agree upon, simply means that it is truly grassroots. I've got a suggestion for them as to demands, though--bring back the Glass/Steagall Act. You know, that was law that prevented commercial banks from underwriting stocks and bonds. It was repealed in 1999 after being gutted for decades, with banks first being permitted to have up to 5% then 25% then 50% of their total assets in the stock and bonds trading business.

Mix in some obama lovers who look you straight in the face and tell you things are actually better... and what you have is people with an urge to emerge from the lunacy.

He isnt out of touch, he is telling anyone who will listen who is.

Erie, I totally agree on Glass-Steagall. And if you look at much of the legislation from Washington in the last 15 years it favors big business and not The People. Look at all those rotten "outsourcing" deals disguised as "free-trade." For the life of me I can't remember (one) demonstration where the people were holding up signs stating "We Demand Free Trade!" Anytime we hear the phrase, "Big business and government partnering together." you know it's not good for the country! Look at "Nafta" it's a disaster yet our government does nothing to get us out of it! Also, we need to outlaw "lobbyists." They shouldn't have "special access" to the congress! They can sit down at their kitchen table just like I do and write a letter to their senators and congressmen. I can't remember the last time (I) played golf with or went on a "junket" to Hawaii with my congressman or one of my senators!

It is those in charge, those making millions a year and who effectively control our government that is the cause of the protest. Anybody who doesn't get that doesn't know what the hell is going on.
