jezabelKH -> Belief, Faith or Religion........ (5/23/2006 2:50:22 PM)

Hello,

i have often been to lot's of leather events and i always hear from the presenters that you should walk your spiritual path, what ever that path may be.

so my question is do you believe that this lifestyle and a belief, faith or religion need to go hand in hand or that it can be mutually seperate?

just curious to what O/others think.

my beliefs are changing and i may convert...atm, i am Catholic.  i find no dicotomy between BDSM and the Church's teachings (although they  rancor me in other ways) and believe most P/pl need/want/desire a spiritual aspect to T/their lives.

My belief systems stem from an earlier age and have no contradiction with my lifestyle.

Rule -> RE: Belief, Faith or Religion........ (5/23/2006 5:37:05 PM)

Most humans are aware or may become aware of the effect that spirituality has on reality. Some - evil - humans, however, appear to be constitutionally unable to achieve this awareness  - yet that is their specific spiritual path. Supposedly that lack of awareness is necessary for them to be able to perform their evil functions.

Thus, whereas I expect most slaves to be spiritually aware, some of their masters may lack this ability.

I'd say that BDSM sometimes goes hand in hand with my spiritual path.  So do all things I do from love.

Well here goes... Under my belief structure I am an extremely evil little strumpet that needs to be flogged for my sexual (and other) crimes. Now this is an important process and I am lucky enough to have found someone that is willing to flog my sins away....

On a more serious note, I was lucky enough to be reared by liberal parents that did not foist some Hell and Damnation view of the world down my throat. I saw my parents study and search for spiritual growth and I have done the same in my own life. I am so glad I do not search for someone that is necessarily of the same belief as myself, because in not having some religion bar to pass I have found men that were VERY enlightened and spiritual in their own way.  I have several faiths I will not date, but I will see agnostics. Maybe that is a whole nother thread though...smiles

Beliefs? phhhhhhhtttttttt. No one here knows who believes in who and who is telling the truth or not?  So many threads on it.
I believe in one person....Me .....and one God.
I wake up every morning and smile, knowing I've done both well and honorable.
What anyone else thinks...Phhhhhhhhtttttttttttt
smiles, Kevin

Belief is just that, belief...how it connects to anything we do is how it connects...
narratives to explain, understand, feel placed.
I attempt to understand, and learn and usually fail drastic...

This will probably end up with me being roasted on a spit over a roaring bonfire, but... what the hey? [;)]  I'm a Christian and my dance with BDSM is a cautious one.  As my profile says, there is not now and never will be any sex with anyone who isn't my husband.  I take my marriage and my monogamy seriously.  Not to mention the Word of God.  Actually, we were both virgins when we consumated our marriage.  That means something to me, both personally and spiritually.

Now, do I run around pointing my finger and screaming SINNER!! at anyone who doesn't subscribe to marriage and/or monogamy?  No... I learned better than that when I was about 19 or so.  But I do take my faith seriously.  It's not a denomination.  It's not about what other people tell me to believe.  For me, if it's in the Bible, I believe it.  I see religion as something a person does.  But faith becomes an aspect of who and what a person is.  There's a difference, but some may have trouble discerning it.

Sorry if I was waxing a little philisophical there for a minute.  Hopefully my mind didn't wander to the point that y'all are totally confused now.  [:D]

Believe it or not, we do not all want to burn Christians at the cross or feed them to the lions...smiles. I respect your chosen path and admire your willingness to see it through. Most people do not have that sort of resolve or ability to negotiate that path... but anything worth doing is difficult from my point of view. I do not have to follow the same path as someone else to admire their determination to traverse it.

juliaoceania -> RE: Belief, Faith or Religion........ (5/23/2006 10:45:20 PM)

I just got off the phone with my dom, he says I am not being spanked for my evilness so much as my judgmentalness, and that I am not actually evil at all (pouting because I liked the self-styled evil routine). He also told me I had to post this correction to my earlier post, so I will do as I am told and post this...

oralservant44 -> RE: Belief, Faith or Religion........ (5/23/2006 11:02:12 PM)

Judgemental? When borderline insanity and pure Charletonism are present it must be stamped out if, we as humans, are EVER to advance toward our potential. In the last 2000 years the two newest "western" religions have wreaked havoc on mankind's advance. Has it been a spiritual path of enlightenment or professional manipulation of one's inner self....Tragically I believe the later....

Dustyn -> RE: Belief, Faith or Religion........ (5/24/2006 12:47:40 AM)

My personal beliefs arean amalgamation of several different religions, so bdsm is rarely an internal issue for me...

Moloch -> RE: Belief, Faith or Religion........ (5/24/2006 5:50:30 AM)

Hmm.. my "spirituality"  is a mix of norse outlook on life mixed with buddhist philosophy.

twicehappy -> RE: Belief, Faith or Religion........ (5/24/2006 7:30:00 AM)

I am druid by way of faith and this has nothing to do with my lifestyle choices, yet being a slave is definitely a spiritual thing to me.

TigerLily23 -> RE: Belief, Faith or Religion........ (5/24/2006 7:42:44 AM)

Congrats on your recent collaring...
I lost my religion (Christianity, the one I had follow since I was a child) about a week before my Awakening to this lifestyle...In my search to find a spiritual connectedness to my higher being, I started researching Hinduism (I am really into Yoga), and for me I have never felt more whole (in regards to my Awakening) and never felt more at peace (with regards to my new found religion)... I couldn't imagine being where I am...knowing what I know...experiencing all that I have, without these two seemingly diametricly opposed forces working in conjuction with one another...so to answer your question...yes, I believe that they can go hand in hand with one another and need not be mutually exclusive...or jointly exhaustive....

after 39 years of experience, research and participation in several organized religions, and after much prayer, meditation, soul-searching and communing with Nature, this slave was brought to the conclusion and made the decision not to claim membership in any organized religion...there is no worry about obedience to any church rules...there is a personal relationship with the Great Architect that requires no intercession or validation by a third party.  being fully present, brutally honest, having faith and patience and the willingness to include others are required.

this slave has followed a spiritual path since before she was born...Mom&Dad prayed for a miracle, and their prayers were answered.  life experiences have shown this slave over and over again that there is tremendous value in faith, a belief in and practice of spiritual things.[:)]

philosophy -> RE: Belief, Faith or Religion........ (5/24/2006 10:52:37 AM)

..i have no faith that good things will happen...more a generalised sort of hope.....and as for organised religions....well, by their fruit shall ye know them

KatyLied -> RE: Belief, Faith or Religion........ (5/24/2006 12:04:57 PM)

I am not extremely religious.  But I am like the atheist in the foxhole, I will pray at certain times for guidance and/or thanksgiving.  I recently went through major surgery and was comforted by the thoughts and prayers of those close to me, and others whom my parents know from their church.  I take my spirituality from different religions, I use what works for me and I don't worry too much about the rest.  I meditate and this can also be a spiritual experience.  For me, it's more useful to be open to religious diversity and not pinned down to one specific religion or only one way of doing something.
