The bbc is pretty good at checking its sources. And a quick perusal of their latest filings backs up what they say.

Tesco is doing fine, and should be here for a loooong time to come. [:D]

Which reminds me - I need to do some grocery shopping. See ya!

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Have you heard the wonderful news folks? (10/5/2011 5:28:17 AM)

the few times i was in England, i liked Tesco's. i just have to ask, have you ever been to Wal-Mart?

SaintIntensity -> RE: Have you heard the wonderful news folks? (10/5/2011 7:12:46 AM)

to the OP

wow - you are "better" than someone who works in a supermarket??? - thats quite a judgement call

some people work from pride/necessity and to avoid having to scrounge off the state

frankly I cannot envisage many people lower down any merit or decency based scale than you!

Tesco succeed through a combination of pricing, competition, service and "location-leverage" (cough) - they
are just better at this than most

PS you are a pathetic twat. Needed saying.

We have Wal-Mart in the UK, running as the Asda brand. It's pretty much the biggest supermarket in the UK. There's a huge one near me, but to be honest I don't like it. I prefer to drive the extra couple of miles and go to the smaller Tesco. They have everything I need, prices are as good as Asda and customer service is second to none. And you get loyalty points. What's not to love about Tesco?

Lucylastic -> RE: Have you heard the wonderful news folks? (10/5/2011 8:27:10 AM)

We will probably find his reason for hating tescos has something to do with a female guard confronting him, asking if she should be allowed to wear leather boots on duty. OR a cashier wearing too much lipstick being rude to him.

If you have a degree in English, why is your grammar so bad?

lobodomslavery -> RE: Have you heard the wonderful news folks? (10/5/2011 8:53:18 AM)

Why are you casting aspersions on my grammar. Have you not heard judge not lest you be judged. Also why not look at the log in your own eye first before looking at the log in my eye. It is a christian principle which i think is particularly relevant here

I disagree. They're one of the cheaper stores around here, their quality is fine and whenever I've had a complaint or a query they've always been extremely helpful.

Sainsbury, on the other hand, I won't shop in because of their appalling customer service.

Totally agreeing here! I loved Tesco's, Sainsbury's annoyed me.

Ya gonna have a hissy fit on em?

Moonhead -> RE: Have you heard the wonderful news folks? (10/5/2011 8:56:46 AM)

I'm casting aspersions on your grammar because you keep failing to put a full stop on the end of your sentences.

lobodomslavery -> RE: Have you heard the wonderful news folks? (10/5/2011 8:58:18 AM)

no i just dont think they are exactly as squeaky clean as they appear, Shakespeare was so right things are not always as they seem and this is as true in the case of the police force as it is of the banking system as it is of the politicains as it is in business, there are bad apples in every sector and the worst thing is it is their very incompetence for which the ordinary worker is paying for in one way or the other, the extent of police overtime payments are for example totally scandalous and not in proportion and it is simply unacceptable that we are paying for a police force that is bent

A lot can vary between the individual supermarkets, to be fair. The local Morrisons, to pick an obvious example, is shitawful because the manager has all the people skills of Michael Winner on crack, but I've been in much better ones elsewhere.
