And if its cruel to tax peoples food why is it heavenly for leftists to drive energy costs through the roof in the name of their global warming cult, which in turn dramatically drives up the price of food and everything else due to increased fertilizer costs and increased costs of operating farm equipment and increased transportation costs, etc etc etc

Again, ideological asswipe with no basis in fact, and flies in the face of fact, per usual, have you seen gas prices? It puts the lie to your rantings.
It's an unsustainable system, he has to blame somebody.

The centerpiece of former pizza czar Herman Cain’s presidential campaign is his “999″ plan, which would slash taxes on the wealthy, drive up deficits to the worst point since World War II, and force low-income Americans to pay a massive nine times their current tax rate. In an interview this morning with CNN’s Candy Crowley, Cain even said food and clothing would not be exempt from the 9 percent national sales tax he would put in place if elected

Since Herman Cain is already being framed by conservative and liberal analysts alike as the "black man"  they will scare Obama into jousting with and lure SOME black voters they'll hope to keep once Romney takes the reigns after a few states... I think we will pretty much never know. And why so  many GOP people think they can go with Romney and have a shitload of Christian Right voters stay home is a puzzle to me, since they can't win on a scratch ticket without them. Romney is a Mormon Boogeyman to a lot of them. I was actually surprised how many.

Increased energy costs and government regulation also discourage corporations from bringing jobs here, further hurting the poor

Then why add food to it? Or are you under the impression that the subsidy/tax round robin will ever be broken leaving all those precious subsidies, we've already seen the oil companies will protect at all costs?

And Cain's 999 can easily become 101010.

And this comment right here is my biggest concern. I see no way the 9's would remain as such. We have a hoard of spoiled, wreckless, entitled and or rich kids that are in Washington. Not a damn one of them seems capable of balancing a teeter todder, nevermind a budget.

Their leadership at best has to do with a, "what's in it for me" and a "let's get what we can before it's gone" mentality. And this is both sides of the equation. To sit here and proclaim one side is better than the other on this demonstrates a lack of willingness to face the truth. I'm not sure that anyone in the Republican Primary Puddle is the answer. I'm also sure that Mr. Obama has demonstrated he is incapable up to this point.

Perhaps instead of bickering about what's wrong with "the other guys", we could start exploring what we need in our leaders in order to right this ship. Who would actually be a good choice to Captain this boat, no matter his affiliation, and then we might actually have a good idea or two emerge.

Perhaps we should compare platforms of the Democrats, the Republicans, and the Libertarians; or any others. We can evaluate the merits of each principle and then cross these theories with prospects. We are Americans and we need leaders that put America first. That's not happening people.

Peak oil and global warming, while peripherally related because they both have to do with burning fossil fuels, are hardly the same issue, peak oil is a supply and demand issue, and on the S&D curve, increasing demand and dwindling supply = higher price that's just called economics, what you and scamity doing is called "agitprop".

I'm starting to think you both know a little more about PR and marketing than you let on - then again, maybe you are that dumb.

They'll cut him off at the knees, I mean they had a viable Black candidate, Colin Powell, and they wasted no time sandbagging his Black ass.

Cain, by contrast, is another cutout, completely out of his depth, and if he get's elected it will just be so they can say Black men can't lead, after he steps on his dick, which is inevitable, given he's doesn't even try to hide the fact that he's another "fuck the poor" corpo-whore tool.

I agree ... Oil is just CHOCK FULL of problems... and the sooner we get away from it the better off we'll be. I acknowledge of course, that day is a long way off. Pity we can't all sort of round that corner and really commit to getting away in a TIMELY manner. I liked the point you make, BTW.

Romney is, in my opinion, the GOP's version of Kerry. Re that to mean, destined to lose.

If anything illustrates that fact it is the speed he's dumped in favor of just about anyone else. Had Christie entered the race, Mitt would have been a distant memory in less time than it would have taken to conduct a poll. The only way he would have come back to the front is if everyone else failed.

That was a real shame... The total KNIFING they did to Gen. Powell. Course he's a traditional republican conservative, and the new order is trying to extinct what's left of those folks as fast as they can. I feel bad for Powell and at one time would have voted for him for the office of his choosing, I thought he was that good.

Yeah, I could take Powell seriously- in fact he was about the only plausible candidate they had - but he wasn't one of "the boys.

Speaking of which Taz, I live in an energy economy, the Permian Basin where we've lost 4000 jobs over the last three years due to lower oil prices - people here would love to see the price of oil go up.

Dude, let me give you a behind the scenes look at just how fucking stupid Kerry's candidacy was ... In the days leading up to the convention my friend Dennis, who wielded a LOT of power among the young Dems arranged very graciously for The Dead to play Kerry's victory party/fundraiser at the end of the Convention. Patches Kenedy was the guy Kerry picked to interface with young Democrats, which was a non-starter since he is widely regarded by the youth as plain fucking weird. Patches decided that "The Dead couldn't possibly sell out the 2500 tickets that were to be available @ $150 each in three short weeks" and he opted for shit local bands and they actually ended up giving most of the tickets as perks. The THEME of the Kerry Campaign was "Help's On The Way"... one of the most requested songs for The Dead to perform live is "Help On The Way"... do the math... they did what Kerry refused for Obama, secured a pretty good cross section of the college vote and got a lot of young people registered and raised over $1 million dollars in gate receipts. The Dead, Inc... for their contributions and 'lobbying' got only one favor... they got to headline the Mid-Atlantic Inaugural Ball ... Call in the impeachment squad!

Kerry, could probably not have won, but he could have had more youth vote, and a bit more money early in his campaign.
I pegged him for a hit and run loss from that moment on

Oh gee.. thanjs for the vote of confidence. Of course part of the cost of oil has alot to do with supply and demand. Part also has alot to do with speculation in the markets.

Why do you feel the price of oil has any bearing on those 4000 jobs?
Why do you think 300+ million people should be gouged for the benifit of 4000?

ok this was supposed to quote lucy....maybe i need to learn which key to hit. no offense stranger...meant for lucy
under 9-9-9 no one will have income tax ....we will all pay tax on what we buy...and would have more $$$ to buy shit with no payroll tax

every other country in the world has consumption taxes

and VA has food tax as well

no one will have income tax....check your facts

Yes, I can read. I understand what you're saying but the supporting information is incorrect. I don't know where you got it. It's wrong.

People have been preaching a flat tax type of system for a long time. Maybe it will eventually take hold, I don't know. I do know that any tax system will account for those at the very bottom. Shrug. You and I both know that and proposed change would end up looking nothing like the original proposal.

The bigger question to me isn't fear-mongering with numbers that would never see the light of day in practice, but whether the idea has merit or not. I don't know that it does. I do know however, that part of your quote above is extremely inaccurate.
