Unless something seriously dramatic changes, I won't be voting for Obama next year. There's no way in hell I'll vote for any of the Republican candidates. If there's a decent third party candidate I'll vote for him/her.

I'm registered to vote in Chicago so it won't make a difference whether I vote or not, I don't have to worry about some bible thumper getting in because I live in a close swing state.

Anyway I'm a super leftist and I can't bring myself to vote "for" Obama when all it would be is a vote against whoever the GOP throws up. I'm wondering if any other leftists feel the same way.

Are you going to vote for Obama?
Are you going to vote for Obama because you support what he's doing and are happy with him, or are you voting more or less against the GOP?

Above questions for leftists/liberals only. I already know the conservatives aren't voting for Obama. I'm more interested in responses from liberals and people who ostensibly "should" vote for him.

Also there's a snowball's chance at the devil's summer home that I'll ever vote for, support, or endorse any of the unqualified bible thumping warhawks who think they're John Galt that the GOP is throwing up so the first conservative who posts on this thread as if this is some sort of "victory" for their party is wholly and unquestionably delusional.

Not sure. I live in Colorado which is kinda purple, so my vote might make a difference.

I very much doubt I would vote for a Republican. Huntsman might be worth voting for, though.

I'll vote for Obama if it's tight but likely a third party otherwise.

I didn't want to vote for Obama last time around, but in looking at the alternative (McCain) the choice became pretty easy. I don't like a lot of what Obama has done, or not done, but again, if what the GOP is offering is going to be the alternate choice then I will again, most likely, vote for Obama. Unless a third party candidate has a very viable chance of being elected, which is unlikely, then the choice will again be between the lesser of two evils. To vote any other way simply gives the worse of the two evils a better chance of getting in.

Unfortunately, a presidential vote in Idaho is pretty much a wasted effort. There are already enough people voting "Republican" that they really don't need an extra vote in that direction. And for the same reason it is probably a wasted effort to vote "Democrat" simply because Idaho's votes are going to go "Republican" regardless. Last time Idaho's electoral went to a Democrat was in 1964 for Johnson.

However, I will be casting my vote anyway. Most likely it will be for Obama, but the time for a final decision is still over a year away, so who knows?

NE allows for split electoral votes, which is what happened here last time around. so for that reason, even though i'm annoyed with him, i'll probably vote for him, and yeah -- mostly because i'm voting against the other guys. =p not because i think he's doing a stellar job.

When in blue states, I've done the protest vote thing. When I lived in Florida, I was a lot more careful (and active.)

Right now, my only other Democrat option is Randall Terry. He said he planned to run an ad featuring graphic photos of aborted fetuses during Super Bowl XLVI in February 2012.

Prospective Candidates

I'll volunteer for the most viable Democratic candidate, which will most likely be Obama.

I won't be voting Republican

, but don't think Romney would be a disaster. What do my fellow Massachusettesians think of Romney's tenure as governor?

I won't be voting Obama, unless like you say, something dramatic happens for the good. I don't know that I'll be voting republican either.

Then again, I didn't vote for Obama or McCain last go round. I've gotten to the point where I'd rather "waste" my vote than just vote against or just vote for party.

Like some others have noted though, my state won't need my vote anyway.

I feel ya imperatrixx but the problem is that we do have to vote and we do have to care about the person that gets in. You sit it out or go to a third party and then you have michelle bachmann president. No, he hasn't done everything right. Who does. But on balance there has been a good deal of progress on the things that most progressives care about.

No one knows what will happen.

What if Mitt wins and the fundies boycott?

What if President Obama wins the OWS support? Hasn`t yet but could.

About the only thing one can predict is that it will be a close election.

Just got an email saying the president has received twice as many donations as he did at this point in time last election.

Not only more donors,but a shit load more money than the grand oil party members too.

Donors also tend to be voteres.

He may lose some from the far left but will gain in the middle.

I think that answers your question. What the rest of the voters do is THEIR problem. I vote so, that I feel GOOD and HAPPY after I have voted. Proud of myself. If the rest want to vote Mr. S**t to prevent Mr. Bigger S**t, it is up to them. I am not responsible for someone I did not put in office.
