The Wii, as I told many others, is a waste of money.  The idea of motion controls sounds appealing and fun in theory but you realize that it translates to shallow gameplay in execution.  I heard a lot of the games that are good on the Wii don't even use the motion controls or use them selectively so that's laughable.

A lot of games today I find myself disinterested in.  There are so many FPS games out there that I have honestly lost count.  Plus I always thought the idea of "DLC" was laziness on the developer's part.

It's an annoying thing. It seems every time I go home I have to download an update. But I don't see much of an alternative.

Graphics are getting in the way of good gameplay these days. But there are some gems.

The main thing the Wii has going for it is that you can use it to play gamecube games, and frankly a gamecube can be found much cheaper...

Those things ate getting harder to find. I never understood the small cd's.

What drives me to the brink of insanity is the excessive release of new handhelds.

Maybe they were undersold in the 'States so there's less used ones in circulation? They were hardly a great success here, but you can generally find a working one for less than thirty quid. (A bit over forty dollars.) I have seen some of the games (Baten Kaitos, Skies of Arcadia and the rarer of the two Zeldas in particular) going for completely stupid money, though.

Weren't the miniature discs so that Nintendo didn't have to pay a royalty for using the DVD format?

I don't even pay them any attention. About the only one I would want is an old portable turbo graphics 13.

Yeah, but it never made much sense to me. The capacity of them is diminished. Playstation was using those 800 mb black diamond disk.

What always makes me laugh is the fact that the ps1 was originally supposed to be a part of the nintendo 64. But in the end nintendo decided to stay with the cartridges. Bad decision. Now with xbox and playstation dominating the adult market. They are boxed into making kid's games.

Delilya -> RE: what is your favorite video game? (10/22/2011 4:50:08 AM)

Monster Manor and The Horde from Panasonic 3DO.
Zelda games from Nintendo
Virtual Villagers 1-5 (pc) from Last Day At Work

My grandkids have pretty much taken over most of my games, so I play online now. My daughter very nicely buys me a membership at Wild Tangent every year for my birthday.

I used to be semi-addicted to WoW but I'm in recovery now. About 3 years sober.

Hmmm... Favourite game kind of hard to pick...

Any of the Tekken series...

Oblivion and Morrowind are great, not tried Skyrim yet...

The Final Fantasy's are mostly brilliant, as are the Baldur's Gates and Neverwinter Nights...

Grand Theft Auto 2 was always good for daft silly fun

RowanBlack -> RE: what is your favorite video game? (4/24/2012 2:19:58 PM)

The original Final Fantasy. Not because it was amazing to look at, or had a story line that would blow you away. Simply because it was my first, and a girl will always remember her first. Hopefully in a fond sort of way.

ResidentSadist -> RE: what is your favorite video game? (4/24/2012 3:48:13 PM)

WoW of course.
Rift was a close second.
