Well I've seen the list of demands on PBS talk shows. You want a $20 an hr minimum wage, all debts forgiven especially college loans, and so on and so on. These are all Obama agenda dream items. Buy votes, buy votes, buy votes with taxpayer money.

cuckoldmepls -> RE: New poll on OWS...over a 3rd of Americans in support (10/24/2011 11:25:40 AM)

I also heard Lech Walesa from the Polish solidarity movement backed out of appearing when he found out who the leftist were behind this scheme.

If a con`s only counter to an embarrassing fact is that a lefty pointed it out, they`ve lost the game, the debate`s over and everyone`s gone home.

There is a lot of intelectual cowardice committed here with this.

It's all a lefty con to obfuscate the FACT that the usurper in the Oval Office now has the lowest approval rating at this point in office since the end of WWII.

Do you have a citation, other than " I heard it on a talk show"?

Nope, that was teh chimp.
Clinton's first term, Reagan's first term, and Bush prime's single term were all lower approved as well.
Three out of four of them got re-elected, of course...

On What Planet Are they doing that. You're either ill-informed or actually trying to distort facts. I am very comfortable in saying that there has not been even one political endorsement made on the part of the Occupy/OWS.
So wherever you're getting your information from, it's a lie and I feel bad for ya.

I keep asking that same question, Skipper. Where are the reports that OWS endorses any candidate or political party?

leyla4r1 -> RE: New poll on OWS...over a 3rd of Americans in support (10/24/2011 11:35:53 AM)

I have marched with the OW's and only see people that want jobs and a fair shake. Yes, there are some "out there demands from some", but the majority of people just want fairness in gov't  and business. Do I believe in everything they are asking, no. But I seldom support everything that candidates stand for either. What is happening is people are voicing discontent over unfair practices. Kudos to that

Moon, can we just call them by their proper name?

Moonhead -> RE: New poll on OWS...over a 3rd of Americans in support (10/24/2011 11:39:49 AM)

I did. Or was Reagan elected using a false birth certificate?

I'll stop calling him that when some evidence that he wasn't the monkey to Cheney's organ grinder can be found.
(Besides, the Kenyan gets called much worse every time one of the independents in here posts. If the current incumbent deserves no respect, why should the last guy get any?)

i think, while there is a sect of maybe the middle class who thinks "menial" labor jobs are below them

I'll happily acknowledge that just like among the right wingers there is an element of tax deadbeats, that feel they are entitled to a free ride of sorts, there's probably a very small percentage that are 'along' for a ride. But they are just that. I am assuming there is also an explanation of how the larger majority of young people who continue to seek opportunity, and are frustrated... Many of whom are WORKING the 'menial' jobs and coming down in their time off desperate for a change that will keep them from defaulting on their average 60 - 100k student loan burden they now bear. And then there's folks like Tazzy and I, and I assume you (I mean, I don't know where you stand on the actual 'movement'... It simply sounds from your posts whenever it touches on the topic that you work harder than the reward). .. How are WE to be explained? There hasn't been much in my time since becoming a single parent that was too 'menial' for me in the process of rebuilding myself after divorce. And I am nowhere near where I wanted to be at this age. But I know the pattern that's been  playing out cannot sustain itself. And I reject the notion that for the past 10 years we haven't been doing almost EXACTLY what big business has asked and that the "leave business to it's devices" strategy is a complete failure.
It's simply time for something different in terms of who govt's priority is. All Americans need their voice back. Not just the ones who do it on a bus tour with lots of amenities.

i agree with this.
as for the OWS movement, i'm just happy to see people doing/speaking up for something. i haven't yet coalesced my opinion on it. the occupy movement is coming into my area, and i've thought about going.

i just get irritated by these "no Americans want to work anyway" statements when that looks absolutely nothing like the reality i live in.

Absolutely... ever wonder what those people do to allow them all this free time to "observe' all these amazing 'facts'?

samboct -> RE: New poll on OWS...over a 3rd of Americans in support (10/24/2011 2:10:29 PM)

Lucy

About that Gallup poll on gov't regulations.... What's missing is the question on tax code which I think is what really bugs small businesses. The regs to hire people aren't that bad, but workers comp, health care, and the accounting in terms of state tax, depreciation, etc that are part of the tax code can be a nightmare. In one broad sense, this is regulation- but I think it's really an accounting problem- the tax code is too complex, and the insurance costs are too high to hire people.

Regulation implies difficulty with environmental regulations, safety standards etc- and there's no doubt that some of them can be pretty onerous. But unless you're in mfg, most of those regs are not a big deal.

Sam
