ORIGINAL: FirstQuaker What other military organization does Brussels really have? All of the EU's member states have their own national military organisations. You know, like the British one that's been wiping your arses for your in Iraq since tou invaded there in defiance of the UN? So you think the Bedwetters of Basra were there as a function of NATO? Afghanistan was/is NATO problem child, but Iraq certainly was not, notice Canada did not get involved in Bush's war, it took Tony the Blair's fine handiwork to get Tommy into the thick of things in Iraq. Which is why I was citing the UK's presence in Iraq as an example of a European military force who are carrying out an undertaking which has fuck all to do with NATO, in answer to your question about whether anybody in the EU had any military capability in its own right. Is that really too complex a point for you to grasp? Apparently it is too complex for you to grasp that anytime Brussels has needed some military handiwork, ( like in the Balkans, Afghanistan, Libya etc.,) NATO is the tool they use. Do you have an example otherwise? The EU has no real central military authority like the USAsians do which calls up the member state's military into their EUromilitary for foreign or local adventures, and the UK is probably lucky they do not. Military Committee of the European Union (EUMC) Though there is talk of doing such a thing, as making a "federal" EUromilitary.
