The difference is there are no longer any significant loopholes, theyve already been closed. Whats left is tax preferences such as the mortgage deduction and capital gains, items that benefit far more than the wealthy.

Capital gains is definitely a loophole as is carried interest. If all that income was taxed as the normal income it is we would have a much lower deficit and some of the concentration of wealth in the rentier class would be reduced.

Well. Now we have heard from the crazy people.
The problem is obvious, ABM. If you made more money, you would pay less taxes. Need to work on that mortgage deduction and capital gains, buddy. LOL

I'd much rather see a flat fair tax where MORE people pay something. How fair is it that the majority of Americans pay NO taxes? I'm talking about the so called poor. Everybody ought to pay something. Make the freaking "poor" feel the pain I feel in paying taxes that I know will be wasted.

It would seem your solution is obvious then...simply join the ranks of the poor and you will live well forever and never again be saddled with your opressive tax burden.

It is obvious that the same inequity exists now as Reagan was talking about. The wording used by him and Obama are eerily and probably not coincidental. So why was Ronnie a genius, but Obama a socialist for saying the same thing about the same problem?

Iamsweet, you forget rule #1: Obama is wrong about everything, no matter what it is. Obama thinks we should focus on job growth? NOPE. Abortion.
Last night he thought he wanted white wine with his dinner? NOPE. The GOP asserts that he should have red (not to mention behind closed doors, many of them mumble "Schlitz Malt Liquor." ) Obama thinks he was born in this country? WRONG. He was actually grown in a lab using the DNA of several terrorists throughout history, like Serpentor in G.I. Joe.

I man really, I'm trying to get him to say out loud "Violet will die in the next 500 years" just so I can extend my lifespan!
