GreedyTop -> RE: Working For A Woman ... (10/25/2011 1:18:42 PM)

Women as employees have always been more manipulative and will almost always get away with more shit with a male boss than a female boss. I've seen it every single time. A female boss will usually see right through the bullshit and expect, demand, the female employee give 100% with no excuses. Usually because she holds herself to a higher standard. Unless of course she is a corporate climber that manipulated her way to her position. Then the only people that 'like' her are the guys she either has dirt on, or is fucking.

I cut this out because possibly one reason male bosses put up with more is they know that if they have a particularly vindictive little bint on their hands, they can end up looking at sexual harassment charges for asking someone to pull their weight for once. Trust me on this one. Personal experience.

TheFireWithinMe -> RE: Working For A Woman ... (10/25/2011 1:56:00 PM)

I've been working for doctors for 18 years and more of the male doctors behaved like bastards who treated me like shit than among the female doctors. They tend to have more of a God complex than the female ones. Surgeons - almost all assholes both male and female. There is a joke in the hospital I work in that one of the qualifications to be a surgical resident is being an asshole.

Sure is, didn't you know?

All must pass the test, but not all of them are actually a-holes.  I know a few who cheated in order to get into medical school.  [8D]

It is, Fire. Whenever I think to myself, Self, you should have become a plastic surgeon and helped others like yourself, I think that the chances of my permanent asshattery would have been assured.

And now I have lousy vision! So there.

hahahaha good one Firm. Almost every single one of the surgery residents at my hospital are assholes who have perfected their craft - if not their surgery skills working under the asshole surgeons in particular orthopedic surgeons. There is such a turnaround of secretarial staff in Orthopedics, and one surgeon in particular that they have almost run out of secretaries as we all refuse to work there.

Would you prefer to work for a woman, or a man, all other things being equal?

Well, if all other things really are equal, then i have no preference. However, i thinks that's not often the case.

The male bosses i've known tended to be more straightforward, less pretentious, less detail oriented, less team oriented, less emotional, less organised, more easygoing, less articulate, more fair, more kinesthetic, and more inclined to punish mistakes harshly at the time, and then let it go.

The female bosses i've known tended to be more inclined to say one thing while meaning something else, more pretentious, more detail oriented, more team oriented, more emotional, more organised, more rigid and judgemental, better with words and language, more apt to play favorites, and more inclined to punish mistakes lightly or not at all, and then hold on to resentment.

i haven't noticed that either sex is more inclined to be lazy.

In an ideal world, i would want a boss who embodied the best traits of both sides. Which, in my opinion, is me. Someday i want to work for myself.

tiggerspoohbear -> RE: Working For A Woman ... (10/25/2011 3:05:19 PM)

I've worked for men and women.  I've worked in departments staffed entirely by women or men.  Bosses to me are the same, as far as I'm concerned I worked for the company/corporation and as long as I did my job, and I did, then I never had a problem.  Some men and women were good bosses, some were total arseholes.

I found it most difficult working in the departments staffed entirely by women.  It was well known that I should just be put in a corner and left to do my job.  I wanted nothing to do with the cliques or the "she did/said this" and I'm not going to help her anymore.  Didn't have time for that, if someone needed help and my job was done, then I helped anyone who needed it.  I was reliable, worked fast and well and didn't make any waves.

When I worked in the department staffed entirely by men, there was none of the backbiting, stabbing or general cattiness that I so hate.  I got along with the guys just as well, they were impressed at the amount of work I could get done and I never made them wait for anything, same for the women.

I started working when it was still a priority to put the customer first and do everything in your power to help them, from retail to manufacturing to credit cards to telecommunications.  I was the jill of all trades, the one who could be relied on.  I find that now, the people getting into the workforce are in it for themselves.  The company they work for doesn't count for anything, or very rarely.  I find there's a lot less knowledge of the job being done.  Cashiers are atrocious at counting change if they don't enter it right into their registers.  On more than one occasion, I've had to tell them why I'm handing them the $0.03 change so that it makes for a quarter.

It's the same when I have to call customer service and deal with a rep for either my cell phone, my internet provider or my case worker from the gov't agency.  I can't stand having to explain how they should be doing their jobs, and they have no comprehension skills as to what I'm saying or asking for.  It's a constant battle.  I have enough problems without them adding to it and making my life even more stressful.

OK, I know I'm kinda off topic but that's my take on the whole thing.  YMMV.
