KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Prosecutors described a frightening standoff at a Tennessee courthouse between law enforcement and an armed man who vowed to take it over in his quest to oust President Barack Obama. The man's attorney said he was just a "loudmouth" expressing his political opinions.

The defense didn't work for Darren Wesley Huff, who was convicted Tuesday on a federal firearms charge that could send him to prison for up to five years.

Huff, 41, was armed with a Colt .45 and an assault rifle on April 20, 2010, when he and about 15 others, some also armed, arrived in Madisonville, a small town about halfway between Knoxville and Chattanooga.

About 100 law enforcement officers also were there because Huff had told an FBI agent who visited his home in Dallas, Ga., and police who stopped him for a traffic violation in Tennessee that he was prepared to help take over the Monroe County Courthouse if necessary."

Of course, Darren Wesley Huff is a lone wolf, unaffiliated with anybody and therefore not of much concern.

However, if it is found that Darren Wesley Huff at anytime in his 41 years of life voted Democrat or got past the 8th grade, the Right-wing controlled American media (i.e. talk-radio and FOX) will be claiming that he is part of "the liberal plot to overthrow the United States" and proof that membership in the Democratic Party should be made a criminal offense.

He said he was motivated to go to Madisonville by Walter Fitzpatrick, a Navy retiree who has had a beef against the federal government since he faced a court martial decades ago.

Fitzpatrick was facing charges in the eastern Tennessee town about halfway between Knoxville and Chattanooga because he tried to use a citizen's arrest warrant to take into custody local officials who wouldn't pursue a legal case to oust Obama. Fitzpatrick's warrant called the local officials "domestic enemies" and Obama an "illegal alien, infiltrator and impostor."

Huff said in the video that he and others were ready to help carry out the citizen's arrests Fitzpatrick wanted.

"I've got my .45 because ain't no government official gonna go peacefully," Huff told the police.

Not to argue with you two, but what I find fascinating is that the OP refers to Darrin being "another one" when this happened about 18 months ago. April of 2010 is not exactly breaking news.

Hmmm 18 months ago.....

What events were happening 18 months ago? It rhymes with ski-farty.

He just got convicted.....sent up and crying like a baby that the prosecutor called him a potential domestic terrorist.

That`s the news.

Must have been quite a wake-up call for this rightwinger.

I`ll go a little further and just call him a terrorist.

I blame the GOP leadership for inspiring nutters like this.

Same with the Giffords shooting/murders.

Palin putting a target symbol over Giffords` district, saying don`t retreat,reload and broadcasting that over the widest possible area, is surely going to produce a tragedy.

Similar to the way Hoover calling MLK the most dangerous person in America.

You`re going to inspire wannabe heros who`ll want to kill "the most dangerous man in America",especially if it`s the FBI`s top officer saying it. Disgraceful !

I never said this right-wing terrorist was representative of all republicans.That would be the kind of stupid non-sence rich and sanity pull.


But I do note the defensive reaction and discomforture on the part of some cons.


I will say tho and can defend, that huff does represent some on the right.

Owner, there you go again, you do realize that Loughner was a lefty, correct?
As a general rule, lefties are "against" government like Mc Veigh and Loughner.
Righties are "for" government, they want to "conserve" govt.i.e. "conservative."
You judge them by their actions not if they're wearing "camos" or not.

There`s no question the guy is nuts.How he got a gun so easy is almost criminal.But that`s another thread.

But we know and our leaders know(they get hate-mail nad threats all the time) that there are nutters out there and fanning the flams of hate and fear for votes is not only wrong but dangerous.

Free speech doesn`t mean abuse free speech,especially from the Palins and limbaughs of the world or elected officials.There`s no excuse.Nothing`s worth that much.

Status: offline 		So the guy who DIDN'T actually shoot anyone (yes, was plotting to, but didn't open fire) is an "armed wacko righty"... but the guy who DID shoot 9 people including a little girl is an "exception to the rule" and a "lone wolf", as painted by the mass media.

You ALMOST broke my Hypocrisy-O-Meter.

And then you use the actual PHOTO of the guy who killed 9 people.

And that DID break it.
