erieangel -> Major win for Occupy Cleveland (10/26/2011 9:04:14 PM)

Cleveland occupiers were told they would have to vacate their space because their permit was about to expire.  Rather than go home, Occupy Cleveland sued the city....AND WON!!

The attorneys argued that the city ordinance interfered with their First Amendment rights.  The city decided to settle without a court deciding the matter (did the city feel they would lose the fight?)  and the occupiers are permitted to stay.

most excellent...congrats to Occupy Cleveland!!!!!

Yep, we in Erie are planning on calling the attorneys who helped them, see if anybody in that office has a license to practice in PA.  We've also called the ACLU about our tarps.  The mayor referred to the tarps are "structures".

word games to pull you under their jurisdiction.  Its the games they play, they are not working "for" the people they are working against the people.

This is a great example of how its done in the big leagues!

They quickly settle out of court so there is NO RECORD of it that can be used again them or any other city in another state.

Nice its great to see its so blatantly out in the  open and that people are catching on to all the mountains of shit they pull on us.

Keep up the good work!

(oh and those word games are "constructive fraud".  Willful attempt to deceive as they wrote the shit and have the definitions right in front of them)  Which is a violation and "breach" of "trust" and the duties sworn to in their corporate charter! ;)

Maybe the police department can be sued as well. They deserve it for hurting protesters that are protesting for them too. Unless those police officers are extremely wealthy, they're part of the 99%.

FR

I wonder what the Keystone XL pipeline has to do with this.

T^T

God love the hometown. To be honest, they'd invite all the other OWS movements here just to get a crowd downtown.

You mean you arent one of the 1470 or so people at the top 1% who control 33% of the wealth?

Erie..... If you find any articles with any decent details ... particularly the attorney's name, I would really love to see you post it ... or you can PM it to me. I was in a GA where there may be some application... lot's more attempted evictions are coming and the permit or suing for permit is being looked at.

So, what you are saying is that IF changes are made that would benefit you and those changes can be directly attributed to the "occupy" movement you would turn those benefits down?

I'm kinda glad they don't... Speak for you I mean... that would just make em more disillusioned colostomy baggers with a broken ideology.
But ANY IDIOT knows the 99% is a symbolic representation of where the folks protesting and the movement itself reside in income demographics. And NO ONE Except detractors of course come up with this moronic blather that we have declared that we speak for everyone of that even the whole of the 99% will join us or even like us. Fact is that we garner a lot more favor than the tea party, and we haven't even made the move to to line up with a party.
But please don't just go off with CrazyTalk, you look like your dear friends ferret dick and well , you know who they are.

You have to do a better job on your quoting skills.

The way you posted it made it seem as if it was Defiant's quote when actually it was Willbeur's.

No you're not Willbeur.

You are part of the percentage that spent his life on your knees kissing ass so you could keep a job.

yeah, any thing a person can stand underneath including a protest sign of cardboard can be considered a 'structure' and used as a legal target.
... Hey RO you know Scott Olson is a native son? Right? He's one of your fellow  cheeseheads. I hope the kid recovers without complications.

erieangel -> RE: Major win for Occupy Cleveland (10/27/2011 7:39:04 PM)

I'll see if anybody online on the occupyerie site has the information as I don't feel like looking for it.  I heard about it while watching feeds at occupyerie.org last night.

BTW, Erie got a win today.  An attorney (I think with aclu but may have been the friend of an occupier) reminded us that local and state law can not take precedent over the Constitution.  We can now have tents in the grassy areas of the park and are allowed to put our tarps back up around the gazebo as long as we paint them and turn them into signs.
