ORIGINAL: popeye1250 Many inner-city Alcoholics Anonymous groups have big urns of coffee and all kinds of snacks laid out on big tables and of course the street people know all about those meetings and they get a free meal and all the hot coffee they can drink. As far as I know there's never been a problem with that as there aren't whole groups of them comming in just a few here and there. I've always figured that if you're cooking large amounts of food and someone is hungry then feed them. You don't know their story. I agree totally. The OP left out some rather important parts of the article. Such as the "security" team of the OWS group entering and "inspecting" the tents of the people they deemed homeless and a problem. The term "professional homeless" in and of itself, as someone else suggested, indicates that they think these people are choosing to be homeless, not that many are mentally ill, or may have lost everything with the economy being what it is. Essentially, the protestors, since they are "living" in the park, are legaly considered every bit the vagrant that the homeless people are. It's NYC for God's sake, didn't they realize that there is an overabundance of homeless and criminals about?
