Edwynn -> RE: Why Are Elected Democrats Politicians Shooting and Beating OWSers??? (10/31/2011 11:56:37 AM)

~FR~ quote:
They are both complicit in the results... equally so. The Republicans and Democrats are both responsible, but far from 'equally' responsible. As pointed out already, the latest decline in society started with Reagan's barn busting tour of deregulation, which just so happened to place an inordinately high amount of the formerly regulated into positions of the regulators, this following his telling his newly appointed head of the FTC to cease and desist in more than 80% of their enforcement measures (thereby starting the mergers and acquisitions craze), and Reagan's new appointee Rumsfeld's (CEO of GD Searle) statement that he was going to "call in my markers" when the FDC turned down approval of his company's new brain-fucking sweetener, Aspartame. Sure enough, a few months later, new FDC appointee overruled his own scientific panel and approved Aspartame for unlimited use of public consumption. James Watt, Department of the Interior. God told us we should chop down all the forests and use taxpayer money to build roads for loggers and miners to that end, that after we give them free access to national lands for the purpose. Yeah buddy. The Department of Energy and even half the EPA flooded with former oil industry lobbyists. Yeah buddy. Industry and business have always supported either party to varying degrees, but I don't think that even they could have contemplated the bonanza that Reagan brought their way, and only token efforts to close that barn door after the horses were let out have ever been attempted since. Certainly not by Wendy Gramm when Enron caused multiple heat deaths in Cali by intentionally shutting down power stations in that state to fluff their energy options trading, then not merely allowing the CFO of that company to engage in accounting fraud to wipe out the retirement accounts of all the employees, but actively opposing and overriding those in her CFTC in efforts to do their duty and try to prevent all the above. What party did the sponsors of The Gramm (Wendy's husband, Phil)-Leach-Bliley Act belong to, then? And who sponsored The Commodity Futures Modernization Act (which allowed both the CDO and oil futures fun and games to begin, no supervision allowed)? After that, Wendy's boy got hired by USB. I hear they're not doing so well right now. The Tea Party wants our society to go back to the 1880's-90's. I'm not sure exactly what the OWS folks are about on any given day, but I think it might have something to do with taking our jobs back and our houses and our retirement accounts back, eliminating the fraud that caused all the loss therein, and not themselves being too picky about if that were to be based on sometime in the past or sometime in the future.
