Binxie has started limping.. and we cant figure out why. She doesnt cry out in pain when the front paw is manipulated, or the shoulder... nor does she make any attempts to pull back. We can press on all her little pads, her nails are all present... no signs of pain at all. We can move the limb, again, no signs of distress, no attempts to pull away. Yet when she walks, she limps.

We are really confused.

Greedy, strained a muscle my ass, my cat Bubba does that a few times a week to try to make me feel sorry for him and get me to open a can of tuna fish for him the little bastard!
And he knows where the cans are and sits right in front of the cabinet where I keep them and looks up at me.
He's a manipulating little prick.

Hmmm.. we do have two cats. Binxie belongs to the Man.... Lilly has adopted me... cus no one will ever own that bitch that I adore.

But since I am now home all day and he is gone, Lilly gets my attention... and I do give some to Binxie.. but not as much as the Man does when he gets home. Could be jealousy I suppose and her attempt to get attention. Lilly knows if she cries out, we will come running... Binxie has now picked up that habit.. when we run to Binxie, she merely flops on her side to be petted.

GT... how long would that take to heal? I guess what I am asking is how long before we know its not just a pulled muscle. Btw, she is around 8 - 9 years old.

it could be arthritis, given her age. Seriously, take her to the vet.

If the cat doesn't seem to be in major distress, give it a day or so. If it gets worse, you need a vet trip. Cats are remarkably resilient and most minor injuries heal on their own.

The major exception is a bite or scratch from another cat. They can be hard to find.

I thought of that as well.. even spoke to the Man about it. Will have to make the trip.

Other possibilities could be a tumor, cancer, nerve damage, dislocation, infection, or fracture (hairline or otherwise). A vet with diagnostic tools can suss it out.

We took her to the vet today. Its bone cancer. The vet thinks it may have spread to her lungs already. A shot of antibiotics and a shot of pain meds and she is home. The man is not taking it well, understandably.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their advice.

I don't know if this will work as well for cats, or if treatment is an option, but when my husky had cancer we got his meds from a Canadian pharmacy and an independent pharmacy. The vet was charging $70 for a $4 antibiotic >_<

I'm really sorry to hear that. So the vet doesn't believe there is anything that can be done, I guess.

I do know someone who pays $600 a month for chemo for her dog, but it isn't something I would ever consider doing. Comfort (and major spoiling) until the pain can't be relieved and then....

Oh Tazzygirl, I am very sorry for you, and your dear cat. If you're in a position to do so, a chest x-ray will be able to confirm if it's in her lungs already, in which case, that's a limiting factor.

Whether in her lungs or not, Neoplasane (orally, in her case), has been known to buy an animal anywhere from a little to a lot of time.

Thank you all for your so kind words. We got binxie home and havent seen her since. she is hiding and the man doesnt want to disturb her. Lilly, our other cat is also upset. Its amazing how they can tell when something is wrong with the other.

The x-ray they did of her leg got part of the lungs. He pointed out he said was masses in her lungs... saying... "While I cant be positive because I wasnt trying to get her lungs, what I see here is not promising". He mentioned amputation.... no way, not gonna do that to her... told the man that as well. But, thank you for the suggestion, Dusky... to be honest, we were so stunned we didnt know what to ask.

He cant handle the planning, so that is falling to me. Im thinking cremation... anyone dealt with that for their pets? Any advice or suggestions?
