OrionTheWolf -> Why the military doesn't like politicians giving out information (11/7/2011 6:33:12 AM)

The spin put on things about the Bin Laden raid didn't add up to my brother who was Marine Recon, and some of the things he told me made me doubt all those stories. Now the "fairy tale" is revealed:

Was to be expected.

Thanks Orion,

Sounds interesting.  And more accurate than much of what I heard, but I didn't say much at the time.  Not having accurate information doesn't always stop some people, though. [;)]

Not sure what it is "the miltary doesn`t like" here.

No operations were compromised,no one got killed or hurt over the different accounts told,no secrets were revealed,no(real) harm was done other than feeding the conspiracy theorists more kibble.

I thought we were going to hear something about a pol inadvertently revealing our Afghanistan plans,or a military mission or something important.

Someone might be losing their security clearance.

Fellow -> RE: Why the military doesn't like politicians giving out information (11/7/2011 8:06:13 AM)

The article fails to mention there was no real Osama Bin Laden.

mnottertail -> RE: Why the military doesn't like politicians giving out information (11/7/2011 8:12:30 AM)

Thank god for that hah? Cuz there was no other information contained in the article.

Not having accurate or complete information doesn't always stop some people, though, does it?[:D]

Not altogether unexpected but the link no longer works. I suspect there was a Bin Laden as reflected in Taliban testimony that he used them to recruit for a terrorist group, later dubbed Al-Quiada by the CIA and only got 2 men and only because the Taliban wanted his money.

SoCom denies this guy spoke to any members of SEAL team 6. Seems extremely unlikely any member of the team would jepordize all of their clearances, and therefore their careers, by leaking TS material.

Someone

I'll agree with you 100% on that one if we're talking about the same guy (the source of this story).

YUP, stop the presses, folks. I'm agreeing with sanity again.

Sanity -> RE: Why the military doesn't like politicians giving out information (11/7/2011 12:08:02 PM)

No, I am agreeing more with Orion than with yourself, william

I could have been more clear I suppose

Hillwilliam -> RE: Why the military doesn't like politicians giving out information (11/7/2011 12:15:26 PM)

I see orions point too. the guy that talked, though, didn't talk to anyone on SEAL 6 but seems to 'know' what happened. Blabbing stuff like that is grounds for loss of clearances or worse.

joether -> RE: Why the military doesn't like politicians giving out information (11/7/2011 12:16:44 PM)

Maybe the FBI should investigate this Chuck Pfarrer and find out EXACTLY where and more importantly WHO he got the information from. Just to make sure no laws were broken. I imagine giving classified information to someone not authorized for that information to be a huge breach of security. People not only lose their jobs but go to prison for stuff like that. I seriously doubt ANY member of of the active SEAL team members (that did this mission) would give this sort of 'first hand account' out to something without the proper security clearances.

Lucylastic -> RE: Why the military doesn't like politicians giving out information (11/7/2011 12:18:40 PM)

especially to a group like the daily caller!!!!

Divulging any classified material to anyone without the proper clearance and "need to know" is a violation of the National Security Act and violations are usually takenvery seriously. If this author has even one unreleased detail right it is entirely possible the entire SEAL team could lose its clearances and be unable to work unless the guilty party steps forward.

Maybe you missed this portion of the article:

"But Obama’s announcement, he said, “rendered moot all of the intelligence that was gathered from the nexus of al-Qaida. The computer drives, the hard drives, the videocasettes, the CDs, the thumb drives, everything. Before that could even be looked through, the political decision was made to take credit for the operation.”

mnottertail -> RE: Why the military doesn't like politicians giving out information (11/7/2011 3:47:21 PM)

Yeah, OK, so I am lost, since this has not a fucking thing to do with anything noteworthy.

Lessee....

They are in the bin Laden current headquarters, they got information there, was that looking to be a surprise to someone?

What was given away? If we say......went into the lair of a bear, you thinking we are not going to find bearshit? You thinking the bear would be surprised or informed that we did?

It would be artless to foist off on the world that we didn't, and no AQ-T people would believe us if we said we didnt find a fucking compromising thing, nor would they believe us that we found scant incriminating evidence

Question is what can they do about it?
