I dont think Obama let much slip with his announcement, given there was a big and not so shiney helicopter lying in the back yard.

Like many books by ex-special forces, they need a good controversy to sell the book. I recall after Gulf War 1 a book by one of our ex special forces was later found to be inaccurate. As has been said, he claims to know the truth but hasnt spoken to anyone who was actually there.

I've only met 2 people who believe the 'official' story of Bin Laden. None of it added up.

I'm confused.  What did anyone have to gain by releasing a wrong account?  We worked through intelligence, sent a stealth mission over without notifying the Pakis, killed bin Laden, and left.  Why would the details of this be important enough to lie about?

Did Obama simply screw up the story, and nobody dare contradict him?

It appears that those that did not know how the operation was actually going down, just kind of filled in the blanks with what seemed reasonable. It really should have just been the facts they were willing to release and even those should have been heavily scrutinized before releasing the information, and the information about gaining computers and other intel should have been left out. The two different accounts mainly shows that politicians really want material to use for political chips and the military just wanted as little information released as possible.

I think the main issue is that it was even announced at all.

Ideally, MI and the CIA should have had time to go over all the data that they took, before immediately announcing to the world (and warning all of AQ) that they had searched OBL's residence and had all of his files.

That is a valid issue ... but I don't think that any President would have withheld the info ... it was simply too much political dynamite.

I thought most of these "corrections" were already made and reported on by the MSM shortly after the raid.  Is there really anything new here, except for someone selling a book simply re-stirring the pot?

SoCom denies this guy spoke to any members of SEAL team 6.

What if there were no documents, what if there were no computers, no cellphones and this is disinformation to throw the terrorists into a frenzy?

I mean the whole idea that our announcing or not announcing is somehow connected to some lost opportunity is ludicrous.

Let's say the headline reads....

Firms house robbed (OMFG what intelligence we have given the crooks, we know, we know!!!! We all know!!!)

Treasure is going to go thru the drawers thinking....they saw my drawers and exclaim, they ruffled my drawers for drawers. And in the cellular nature of terrorist CELLS............who knows what about the drawers?

Nothing was ventured or lost or gained... if there was clear and present intelligence on someone then and there it would have went to the mattresses....the military is only constitutionally beholden to the CINCUSA. If there was a clear and present reason to secrete the information they would have mentioned it to the political arm of the military in more than offhanded manner during the :

Hey, whats up General?

Oh, the old lady is bitching and now you fucksticks are making us fill out all these forms for gays in the military....

Yeah, somedays you can't make a fuckin dime.... Hollah at you later....

Oh, Mr P.....we cakked Osama Obama btw....got some papers and computers, real big intelligence on them, can we keep it on the downlow till we exploit this?

Nah, I am going to waste a good crisis and boost my numbers now and fuck November next year. If we could kill a bunch of terrorists the numbers would make more sense over this year as we head into the elections....but I want to be a one term president so lets boost the numbers now far away from the elections.....

when ever someone is selling a book, truth seems to go out the window..
