I loved the Stand.. except for that cheesy ending.. I'll grant that SFX werent as developed when the movie was made.. but still.. there HAD to be SOMETHING that wouldn't have been so.. well, cheesy!

FR:

The shitawful vampire film Razor Blade Smile.
A terrible script, dreadful acting (the lead actress, Eileen Daly would probably have been just as bad with a dental prosthetic that didn't make her sound like Violet Elizabeth Bott after being punched in the mouth, and a few other members of the cast are even worse) and even limper humour than the post Guy Ritchie school of shit gangster comedies.

(Of course, one really terrible thing is pendant to the film, rather than part of it: Daly's boyfriend, Nigel Wingrove, runs the horror/sleaze video packagers Redemption films and announced that any hack who said a bad word against his honeypie's film debut wouldn't be getting any more review copies...)

Killer Clowns From Outer Space (1988)

Take it back shark. That movie made me laugh.

It does have it's moments.

I watched it plenty of times.  I had a son-in-law that was a dirtbag crack head, and he had a phobia about clowns, so anytime he was over, I'd pop in the video and start it up.

Worked like a frigging charm.

Yep, I remember the cartoon. Even as a kid I wasn't impressed, even though I've always had a love of things a bit 'out there'. That was just way beyond 'out there'...

Unwatchable movies- there are so, so many....

I couldn't stand Jonah Hex. Wasn't the International about some killer bankers? That was pretty awful, as was the last Clive Owen/Julia Roberts flick- and I often like both of them (well, I really tend to like Clive Owen movies.) Does anyone remember Bolero? Or how about And God Created Woman, with DeMornay (who I really like.)

In response to Kana- who if you think that Jaws 3 was bad- how about Superman 4? Or more recently- Megashark vs. Octopus, or some such drivel?

In the really bad movies dept- that become so bad, that they're campily funny- well, I still like Lifeforce where a critic describes the actors as acting "really, really, hard." The only time anyone cracks a joke in the movie was when a major says, "Not a problem, I am a natural born voyeur." I tend not to like Vampire movies, so I like this one.

Golan-Globus movies- look them up on Wiki- notorious for taking bottom of the barrel scripts and actually making them into a low budget movie. They did Lifeforce- during the opening credits (I saw this turkey in the theatre) after I saw it was a Golan-Globus production- "it's gonna suck." My friends who saw the movie with me at the theaters agreed. Roger Corman's stuff like the Troma films can fall into this category. One of their classics involved Ann Turkel who was really hot being chased by some creatures from the black lagoon, with large squishy heads.

Galaxy Hunter- take a body double (Michelle Stacy-who doubled for Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman- need I say more?) and put her in a sci-fi movie- and then don't let her take her clothes off much!

Sorta watchable: The Fifth Element- it's a kids script and it shows it. The Messenger with Milla Jovovich- she was a lot more fun in the awful Raccoon City movies. Judge Dredd- which I think I'm beginning to like actually. Gangs of New York- an absurd historical mish-mash- sort of true to an awful book.

More fun, but still "bad" movies- Night Patrol- which has a great soundtrack.

Actually quite good "bad" movies, i.e. worth watching and enjoyable, and only "bad" in mainstream movie goer eyes- The Hidden- a film that works on a lot of levels including a commentary on politicians. Claudia Christian's comedy - Hexed which is a real sleeper movie. (I like Claudia Christian.)- Jake Speed, Once Bitten- and probably my favorite Micky Spillane movie, I, The Jury with Armand Assante. The Rocketeer- and Flash Gordon!

Note- I'm one of the guys who really liked Titanic- but then I figured out that Cameron had taken a documentary and put a love story on top. It's a great documentary. I also liked Dead Calm, but Nicole Kidman naked made me watch Eyes Wide Shut more than once. It's a terrible movie, but it's got gorgeous women in it.

The Fifth Element is a "bad-ish" movie to me. =p It's got a lot of cheesy parts, but some cool parts, and all-in-all, it's watchable, as you said. =p My favorite thing about it is probably that weird blue opera singer.
Another movie like that is Demolition Man. =p Sooooooooooo completely cheesy, and yet still so fun. =p haha
What's the deal with the seashells? =p I think it's great that they never give an explanation.

This old brain doesn't know the name(s) but I got it.

In the 1970s there were I think two made, one with a car and one with a truck. The windows were tinted so you couldn't see in and all the vehicle would do is kill people all day and night long. Never ran out of gas or anything, and if you saw it you were gone quicker than a new Black actor on Star Trek 1966.

I know I saw it a few times, no plot no nothin, just elevator music for the eyes. I seriously don't even know if it HAS a name.

Termy's post reminded me of an old movie I saw part of once. "Killdozer" Same principle. Construction workers on an island and some kind of alien force took over their Cat D8 bulldozer.

There's a truck movie called Duel where a guy is being chased by a random dude in a semi who's trying to kill him. Is that one that you're thinking of?

I agree with your comments about 5th element- it's just that the plot falls apart at the end. The Gary Sinise Mars movie had that same problem.

Far more enjoyable- Mars Attacks! (Rrrackk, rrrack, rrrackk?)

Killdozer was a wonderful short story by Ted Sturgeon- but, yeah, the movie sucked.

Dunno about Termy's car chase movies, but there have been a few in that genre. The Last Chase with Lee Majors was pretty bad, although it had a cool F-86 in it.
Pretty watchable "bad" car chase movies- Gumball Rally, Vanishing Point, and one of my faves- Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry. Cannonball Run 1 is fun, Cannonblah 2, not so much. And descending the food chain quickly- the Smokey and the Bandit movies....

Termy- are you thinking about "Duel" with Dennis Weaver? Think it might have been Spielberg's first movie.

Forgot about posting one of the silliest things ever- Megaforce, with a bearded Barry Bostwick (Brad from Rocky Horror.) where motorcycles had to pop a wheelie in order to fire their rockets. I don't think I ever managed to watch this dreck more than once.

FR:

Ok, I gotta strongly disagree with the negative comments about "The 5th Element".

It was a little ... sweet ... in it's final subject matter, but a great visual and audio experience, and - for a science fiction movie - had a plot that warrants a suspension of belief.

Hi Firm

Sorry, but IIRC- that movie was written by the director in the 5th grade- and I think it shows it. Mind you, I think most of the Star Wars movies have plots that were written in the 3rd grade, but they're not sci-fi.

Oh- and in the bad movie trying to be a good movie category- how about the Door in the Floor? I really enjoyed Mimi Rogers in that awful movie, and I'll happily watch Kim Basinger naked- but the rest of it? Yecchhh. Sliver falls into this category as well.

1-I dunno why, but something about Jaws 3-The shark wants revenge just kills me. I mean really, a shark wants revenge. And it knows who/what/why/where to bite.Think about it.
2-I love, as in lovelovelove truly terrible movies, those ones that are so bad they become good. They become heckle worthy.
3-You liked Titanic? Really? And admit it in public?
The dialogue is painfully bad, almost Avatar level. And the love story, phhpppppppppphhhhttttttttt, laughably implausible to the point where it's impossible to suspend disbelief.
4-Eyes wide shut is a strange flick, one of the few that divides folks. Some love it, most hate it, very very few are simply indifferent. Me? I thought it wasn't Kubrick at, or near, the top of his game. That said, even a bad Kubrick is better than most folks (I'm looking at you Brent Ratner and Jerry Bruckenheimer) best.
