Sucking your country for all its worth?  Most of them do not even make minimum wage!  You want to know who is sucking your country for all it's worth?  Look to the big businesses who are outsourcing their labor, running their products and profits off shore and not having to pay taxes, and many times are the ones who are willing to take in these slave laborers, and destroying the rate of pay for legal Americans.

The problems of a society rarely come from those who have no power to wield.  Look up the ladder.

Right, so because I want my countries boarders protected I am a racist?  Gee willy wiz I didn't know I wanted them out because of their race I always thought it was because they are here illegally sucking my country for all it is worth.  Please do refer to the fact I have no problem with people who come here legally.  Don't care what race you are, and if it was based purely on race I'd be painting a pretty broad brush and using a term that refers to those of Spanish decent, last I checked Mexican was a nationality not a race.  Mexicans are the main problem, hence the reason why they are generally referred to even though they aren't the one and only problem.  Really, calling me a racist doesn't change facts and is a straw man argument.

i don't know You.  i don't have any idea what sort of Man You are (or for that matter, if You're even a male).  i can only react to what is written.

Heya candystripper,

I agree that it is pretty odious.... It is very easy to sit on our fat American asses, consuming the largest portion of the worlds goods and natural resources and bitch at people who have to flee their native country to try to survive.

At one point... we were a country of compassion for those who were not as fortunate as we are.  Then we sold our national soul to the devils of big business, and all that means, in terms of apathy and consumerism... (sure sure I will do my part in this world  [and even be a great Christian!!!]  just don't touch my bubble, just don't make me use any form of the s word.... sacrifice).

What we forget is that this country is not ours.  We stole this land from the indigenous peoples who were already here.. I don't see anyone hopping off their high horses and suggesting the Native Americans should allow us to be shipped the hell out of here?

i agree, except with my limited knowledge of history, i'm not aware of any time in USA history in which we had not been corrupted by Big Business.  i'm sure there was a peddler on the Mayflower.

puella-

You have any idea how many tax dollars illegal's suck up?  Medical, legal, prisons, etc?  They suck up billions and don't put one cent back.  There is no excuses at all for violating this countries borders.  Immigrate legally, become an American, work hard, pay taxes, learn the language, etc, and I and the vast majority of Americans will have no problem with you many will welcome you with open arms.

It is illegal's who take jobs, don't pay taxes, commit crimes, and have no interest in becoming an American that I and most Americans have a problem with.

For someone so involved in the law, why don't you want to see it enforced? Why is it racial to you? The amnesty legislation passed by the Senate is the equivalent of saying anyone who was broken the law is given a free pass. Why not apply the same logic to rape, murder, theft, assault? What law should be picked next to ignore? Why respect any US Law? Do it long enough and get away with it long enough and you have precedent (legal?) to site to argue the enforcement. The only bigotry is bigotry against obeying the law.

Why is that the responsibility of the US taxpayer? Do you know what the laws are in Mexico regarding the protection of their southern border? If we only had reciprocal enforcement there would have be no Mexican immigration. Oh and by the way, it's against the law in Mexico to have a demonstration similar to what occurred in the USA on May 1st.

Stole the land? From who? For sure not the Mexicans, they sold it to us. If anyone "stole it" from anyone the Mexicans did from the Indians. You could argue the Spanish Catholic missionaries effected the biggest land grab. Maybe they should be sued for any money they have left over from the alter-boy sex scandals.

Wolf... do you have any idea how ignorant that statement is?

Firstly... do you realize that most of the jobs these people are doing are not jobs Americans really want?  Have you ever spent the day bent over a row of strawberry plants in the blazing California sun? All day? Would you do that job for 3.50 an hour?  You willing to cut someone's lawn for 5 bucks?  I bet even your kid wouldn't cut your neighbors lawn for 5 bucks.

Secondly, if they made the whopping 5.50 an hour we have so meticulously kept as our minimum wage in this country for their labor and paid taxes on it.. do you have any idea how much they would be required to pay if they were supporting a family of say... 4?  Not nearly as much as we give back to the wealthiest 2 percent in tax breaks each year (yanno, somehow I would rather see Pedro feed his kid each week than Paris buying a new hand bag each week with my tax dollars, call me fucking crazy!!)

Thirdly and most egregiously of all... do you know that one in every 128 Americans (that is LEGAL Americans) is in prison (and if they ever clean up Washington that ratio will probably freaking skyrocket even more) .  That's 2,198,609 legal American citizens who are currently in prison .... God only knows what that number would sky rocket to if you took in the numbers who were let out in say.. the past 5 years?  Don't blame crime on the illegals.  Look in your own back yard for that.

Am I saying that we shouldn't have any procedure for monitoring the borders?  Am I saying open them up and let them all in... nope.  Never said that.  In fact, if we actually enforced the policies we have in place now... I bet you the problem would be GREATLY reduced... do you know what those policies include???  Prosecution of all companies who employ illegals !  Do you realize that in 2001 there were only 141 prosecutions?!!!  (As an interesting side note to that, one of the highest fines was levied upon Walmart, surprise surprise... The company that has a policy of not allowing their employees enough hours to qualify for their health benefits programs... those hospitals you think are being used for free health care only for illegal immigrants are also having to serve the growing population of legal Americans who can not afford health care...)

If there are no jobs in the US.. how many of those illegal workers who are taking all these great jobs you begrudge them would come to this country, do you think?

And how about this.... Vincentez has not been addressed by the current administration on any policy of immigration, but they rushed their asses south of the border to make sure drugs were not legalized down there...

Again I will say this... if you want to deal with a problem, go to where the funding and the power are centered.  They are the ones who call the shots.

Because they are people who will cut corners to make a buck.  Illegal's will work for below minimum wage and even if they wont do it for less then minimum wage they will still do it for a lot less then an American worker can afford to do it for, see my electrician example.  It makes it cheaper for those employers willing to hire them and that is why they do it.  They need to be dealt with as well as I said in my first post I have no love lost for these people either.  But that does not remove the actions of people invading this country on a daily basis.  Tens of millions of people here violating our national sovereignty, yes I'd call that an invasion.

If you really want to get rid of illegal immigrants, the only way to do it is to crack down on companies that hire them.  I myself don't believe our economy can function without illegal immigrants because I don't believe it's possible to have only citizens and legal aliens working the jobs that they fill.  But we could find out.  No measure designed to curb illegal immigration that doesn't also address their employers in the U.S. is going to make much headway.  They'll always come back if there are jobs here waiting for them.

Time magazine also touched upon a "darker, more turbulent Che who signed orders to execute prisoners in Cuban jails without a fair trial", as well as the "generous Che who tended wounded enemy soldiers, gone is the vulnerable warrior who wanted to curtail his love of life lest it make him less effective in combat".

Yes, he helped topple a dictator in Batista, but in doing so he took part in elevating another jackal in his place, Fidel Castro.

Sorry, but I wasn't alive back then and therefore because it is many hundreds of years past... don't you think we should move on? Yes, it was wrong and yes the government has made some reparations to the Native American Indians but we are here... legally now and that is what this discussion is all about.

Wtf is up with all this hating on Mexicans?  In Florida it's the same damned rant, just substitute "Cuban" for "Mexican".  In Texas, it's "Vietnamese".

This racism just sucks.  Stop the hate.

As far as my being a racist, I assure you that I do not have a racist bone in my body. I hate everyone equally. (that was a joke) But it is true I am not a racist. And I find it pretty ballzy to sit there and pontificate that everyone against illegal immigration is a racist. I am against illegal immigration. I am not against any race, color, religion... come here legally it is that simple. I welcome anyone who has come to the USA legally... to the illegal ones... go home, come back through the system and become a citizen.

All day? Would you do that job for 3.50 an hour?  You willing to cut someone's lawn for 5 bucks?  I bet even your kid wouldn't cut your neighbors lawn for 5 bucks.

Why can they not become legal first?  That is the entire problem, legality.  As to jobs Americans don't want plenty of Americans will pour a driveway, lay tar on a roof, mow lawns, scrub a toilet.  Will they do it at slave wages?  No they wont.  Nor should they have to because someone who has violated their nations borders will do it for that wage.  The only reason that becomes the going wage is because that is what illegal's will do it for, not because it is a fair wage.

quote:

Secondly, if they made the whopping 5.50 an hour for their labor and paid taxes on it.. do you have any idea how much they would be required to pay if they were supporting a family of say... 4?  Not nearly as much as we give back to the wealthiest 2 percent in tax breaks each year (yanno, somehow I would rather see Pedro feed his kid each week than Paris buying a new hand bag each week with my tax dollars, call me fucking crazy!!)

And I should care why?  Americans have to do it to I don't care if you come from a third country rat hole.  They put honest Americans out of work, not making a living period taxes or no taxes.  Learn a trade work for a fair wage rather then for nothing and make more then 5.50 an hour.  If you want to come here paying our taxes like every one else is part of coming here, don't like it stay home and better your country.   As to the wealthiest 2 percent do you realize how much they pay in taxes?  They pay their fair share why should they get it up the ass from the government more then any other American just because they have worked their asses off and become a success?  That is called capitalism, you work your ass off, better yourself, and you get rewarded for it.  If you have a problem with that move to a socialist country, preferably try sneaking in and see what happens to you for comparison to what'll happen to you here.

quote:

Thirdly and most egregiously of all... do you know that one in every 128 Americans (that is LEGAL Americans) is in prison (and if they ever clean up Washington that ratio will probably freaking skyrocket even more) is in prison.  That's 2,198,609 legal American citizens who are currently in prison .... God only knows what that number would sky rocket to if you took in the numbers who were let out in say.. the past 5 years?  Don't blame crime on the illegals.  Look in your own back yard for that.

What is the key word?  Come on you know it you even capitalized it.  Can we say it again one more time? LEGAL.  Those born here or legal are our problem.  And as you so graciously point out a big enough problem at that.  Why in the hell should we have to deal with the added criminals from other countries?  We have enough home grown we don't need more and guess what?  That's what every illegal is.  I don't blame illegal's for all I crime, but the fact is one, all illegal's are criminals, and two we have enough home grown ones we don't need more logs on the fire.  10-33% of those in Americas prisons are illegal's, do a quick internet search and that's roughly what the statistic will range from.  That is a low of one in ten to a high of just more then three in ten of those in prisons are illegal's.  That's a lot of money when you figure how much it costs to keep someone in prison.  To use a nice round number it costs 20 grand to keep someone in prison per year.  Going in the middle of the percentage of illegal's in prisons I used 20%.  With these figures it costs 8,400,000,000 per year to keep illegal's in prison.  This isn't including any illegal inmates who need special care.  Do our home grown criminals eat up more?  Bet your ass they do.  But again, we don't need close to eight and a half billion logs thrown on the fire.  And it doesn't even include illegal's on any forms of welfare or what it costs our nations hospitals in mandatory treatments they need to give illegal's.

Now I do agree with what you say next.  If we enforced what we have it would cut out a big chunk.  Problem is it isn't very efficient and costs a hell of a lot as it is let alone if we enforced it to the letter to handle all of them.  And yes you are also right about employers.  However, if the illegal's weren't here to provide the cheap labor they wouldn't be able to employ them.  These people NEED to be dealt with, but so do the illegal's which are the root problem.  On top of that you still have the things we just give them.  Can't afford to have your baby in a nice clean hospital?  Hop the boarder and get to the emergency room and bam not only did you have your kid in a country with some of the best hospitals in the world but on top of that your kid is an American citizen on top of that.  Welfare?  There's another great one if you can swindle it like plenty do.  Employers are a big incentive, but even if you crack down on them illegal's will still come here.

Woah, back it up Gauge...

I never said someone who wants to get a handle on the problem of illegal immigration is a racist.

However, someone who says something like this:

quote:

ORIGINAL: Wolf1020

might just resmeble that remark.

How the heck is that racist?  I said illegal's.

Last time I checked illegal is not a race.  And last time I checked stating a fact isn't racist either.  Racism is singling out a race for unfounded mistreatment and prejudice.
