Actually, and I have said this before, if someone in the democrat party runs against Obama in the primaries, I am going to vote for them.

President Obama has backed down every time he has been challenged by the Republicans.

BUT, I have to agree, Americans as a culture have gotten lazy.   It is easier for companies to ship jobs over seas and not bring business to the United States.  However he did not take the statement far enough.

Americans have gotten into the desire for instant gratification.  Instead of working toward a goal, they want it now.

Ah. I see Ken understands the gravity of the President deciding to use that word. He's trying to get the race card out there right off the bat.

You know what you can do with it, Ken.

I think your ODS has affected your judgement and ability to detect sarcasm.

"But we’ve been a little bit lazy, I think, over the last couple of decades," he said at CEO summit at the APEC meeting in Hawai'i. "We’ve kind of taken for granted — well, people will want to come here and we aren’t out there hungry, selling America and trying to attract new business into America."

Google CEO Eric Schmidt, who was participating in a CEO summit at the conference, told reporters he would not use the term lazy — but said the trend Obama was pointing to is hardly new.

I happen to agree with him.

Maybe he should set an example by telling the White House staff that, no, it isn't too much work to come up with the documents subpeonaed by Congress in the Solyndra corruption investigation?

My understanding, Rich, is that the WH released 135 pages, and withheld a "dozen" which were offered for committee review.

I think the word Obama was looking for was complacent.

Moonhead -> RE: It's not him; it's us - part II (11/13/2011 12:56:53 PM)

Complacent has too many syllables though: complacent people can actually understand "lazy".

Do people look complacent to you? Or are they bitching and moaning and complaining about the economy for years while doing nothing to improve it?

Lazy fits much better.

It can be noted from who is responding to this, and how, that our players must from the UK must be more accustomed to having national failures blamed on the citizenry, than we are here in the US.

Yes, Erie. He really chose the wrong word.

Definition of COMPLACENT

: marked by self-satisfaction especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers or deficiencies : marked by complacency : self-satisfied <a complacent smile>

Dont know about you, Rich, but people have been complaining about the economy since 2005. Sounds like they havent been "complacent" for a number of years yet still did nothing about it.

Pointing out that the chimp came out with the same shite as the Kenyan's doing is embracing serfdom?

Bully for you.
Come back when you've got a job teaching law and a seat in the senate off the back of that, dear.

I don't believe the word, "lazy," was actually used by the White House. I can put "Bush lazy" into Google than it would have taken Lucy to begin with, and draw nothing but people who wanted to revile him. With Obama, there are news links as well. Care to back up the whole foundation of your argument?

As I said, perhaps you are used to being insulted by the divine government, given by God to rule over you, but we do things differently here. Obama likes to take his bully platform, and cast insults from it. This one won't go over well.

First President Obama was declaring that the problem was that Americans have gotten soft, now the President is off telling the world that we are lazy.

Maybe he should set an example by telling the White House staff that, no, it isn't too much work to come up with the documents subpeonaed by Congress in the Solyndra corruption investigation?

but you DID say the president is off telling the world that you are lazy. Is this a goal post changing word semantic thing? or are you admitting you were wrong in your OP?
Or are you just decrying my laziness in asking for your lazy ass to post a link when you post an OP or your laziness in not doing so at the time?
We dear chap have had centuries of our ancestors fucking up the world and everyone laying the blame at our(joe publics) feet and continued hatred and lies and misconceptions about us because of what our forefathers did.
Sometimes the turuth hurts
We got used to it and can admit it
As I said, Its time some of you faced up to YOUR truth.

Bush bitched that the reason all the menial jobs have been usurped by illegals is that Americans are too lazy to do that shit.
Bizarre insults about your misunderstanding of constitutional monarchy won't change that, I'm afraid.
