ORIGINAL: erieangel http://www.alternet.org/newsandviews/article/737112/perry_promises_to_end_civilian-controlled_military/#paragraph3 Evidently, Perry doesn't know that the Founders gave civilians control of the military for a reason. Evidently, Perry doesn't know that on the long-chance that he is elected President, he would be the civilian Commander in Chief. Evidently, Perry know much about history or that without civilian control of the military the Cuban missile crisis would have ended much differently because at the time, the military wanted to go into the Cuba while the civilian Commander in Chief saw a much better way out of the situation. I am starting to despise some Democrats in this forum because of their tendency, in the debates around Republican candidates, to manipulate the sentences, build up cheap propaganda and spread lies. I honestly thought that that was the area of Fox News and such. I did not expect this to happen three times in the last two weeks, here. Perry did not said or indicate that he wanted to "end civilian control", but exaggerated micro-management from Congresspeople on military operations. And what he would do this as president, that is, civilian Commander - in - Chief. That's what he actually said, and what is quoted in the, already biased, report of AlterNet. So, even if I disagree with Perry about that such thing happened, and being actually an European leftist (which puts me, for most Americans, side by side with Stalin I guess)... 1 for Perry, 0 for populist Democrat propaganda.
