I've read all posts and here's my summary. This discussion is divided into 4 camps. I list them in order of most popular convictions. 1 It is a combination of all, the nature and nurture theory. 2 It's mostly a nurture thing, so environment and surrounding etc. create most of who you become 3 Everything is choice matter. 4 Nothing is a choice really. I'm in camp one. But I believe that nature, genes and inherited personality, plays a bigger role then I would like to admit. Because in the end I want to believe, we really have a choice in everything. Alas, science has proven some things really have little to do with choice. For instance, if you are born in an islam country, you will most probably become a muslim. It's not really a choice, but a cultural disposition. You are born female or male, that is no choice at all. So that's a genetic disposition. You are born brown, white, black, yellow, green or purple. That is definitely your family inheritance. So to summarize this for you. There is definitely cultural, genetic and hereditary differences, that make up who you are. And yes there is, without a doubt in my mind, CHOICE. Just a yes and no will suffice, to support this theory. All quantum probabilities pushed aside. Nice theory, but way too theoritical to really lean on, as an absolute truth. It's the same with the BigBang theory. It's there, but it's loaded with too many possible variables, to really come to one simple conclusion. I do not think human life is that complicated. My conclusion so far is: We are wanting more, of what we want it to be, that suits our invented purpose best. Than we are willing to admit, that our will is somewhat submissive to our original genetic or cultural make up. FreeDom means having a choice. Being born this way is not a choice, but if you choose to embrace it, you've got the best chance to become happy. Thank you all, R. PS submaleUK, no offense, you are makin some nice chat posts, but if you really want to delve into your question. open up a thread with your true dilemma. It is interesting on it's own merit.
