ORIGINAL: MissAsylum Ok, all the yelling text hurts my eyeballs. This is bunk. I come from a household that is both Jewish and Christian. I had a christmas tree so...yeah, whatever. No, that is NOT christian-like behavior. Period. This is just my opinion, but many people who push the Christian angle are really the antithesis of what a christian is supposed to be: accepting, nurturing, compassionate, nonjudemental. Those posts dont display any of those qualities. Quite sad, really. Well, Christmas IS a Christian holiday. I had a cousin who was married to a Jewish man, and they had a Christmas tree. My father jokingly called it a "Hannuka bush" trying to integrate the two. I don't have a huge issue with people saying "Happy Holidays" instead of Merry Christmas or Happy Hannuka, but things are getting out of hand. I have another cousin who was the head of a local Board of Ed. After 9/11, on the marquee for the high school was posted, "our prayers to the families/victime of 9/11" (or something of that nature). Someone called and complained that it was offensive to atheists, so he removed it (and took flak for that as well). It didn't mention "God" or who anyone might pray to, and it was the spirit of the message to the families and victims. I get emails all the time from someone I was friends with when I lived in Florida. Most are against Obama, for prayer, etc. I delete them and find them all obnoxious. It really shouldn't matter to anyone if someone says Merry Christmas, Happy Hannuka, or Happy Holidays. People should take it in the spirit in which the comment is made. So, MissAsylum, Happy Hannumas!
