It's supposed to mean: "In the good old days, children like you were left to perish on windswept crags," but really it means: "In ancient times, those born like you were abandoned to their deaths on windswept crags." I'd kinda prefer real (i.e. classical) Latin sentences, rather than those quasi-clever-and-often-imprecise back-translations of modern expressions that you can find everywhere on the net. quote:
