I love the way she stresses that she's been bereaved before failing to address any of the problems people have with the hilariously partisan moderation in here.

Oh come on. I, too, think the moderation is obviously biased, but that is a low blow Moon.

So's most of the moderation in here.

Well if you want to frame it like this, than right now you are getting the kind of moderation you deserve.

Which will make a pleasant change from an undeserved modslapping, won't it?

If it does for you, so be it.
I prefer not to go there.

And he had to keep his cool. "The physiological reaction I had to this was strong, and I had to force myself to use my training and force calm on the situation," he said.

He wasnt without emotions, he wasnt without feelings. Why would you consider he was? Fear, panic, shock... nothing more or less than what a Physician would go through in a code.

Training doesnt negate feelings or emotions. It merely allows a person to focus on the task at hand.

Sullenberger says he was able to use his training to force calm on his situation. Clearly he made decisions from his training and not his emotions. The emotions were pushed aside and reasoning proceeded from training. You said it couldn't be done, tazzy, but there it is in the words you quoted. If you listen to the conversations he had with the controller you can hear Sullenberger's cool rationality.

Your lack of backbone is not my problem.

Lack of backbone? Because I am not willing to go so low and make mean remarks when a Mod shares a personal loss? Okay.

Sandra is not the only person who felt your remark was cruel, unnecessary and inappropriate, moon.

She makes no personal comments if she isn't trying to excuse the slant the moderation in here takes.
You're probably a better person than I am, but in this case I'm not giving her the benefit of the doubt over this. Sorry.

Nope. I don't give any more of a fuck about about Alpha's personal problems than she gives about mine, though. If she's whining about them in a wildly inappropriate forum, to use them as an excuse for fulfilling her role selectively, then they're fair game.
If that makes me a cunt, I can live with that. This is a forum infested with cunts, after all.

Cynical as I am, I still hope that she would not fabricate something as deeply painful as the death of a loved one to defend the moderation of a online forum. That would be an immense disparity of scales.

And it was later determined that he could have made it back to the air strip. I never said he couldnt focus on the task at hand. But even he admitted he was not operating from a point of no emotions.

There simply isnt a way to divorce oneself from one's emotions. Even if one wants to suggest that emotions can be controlled. They can be controlled to an extent. But not the extent of turning them off, ignoring them completely, deciding which emotions to feel or not feel.

Crashing a plane in the Hudson and not having a single emotion before, during or afterwards? Not possible.

He admitted to his fear. The whole crew did. In a code, medical staff feel fear. Training allows them to focus, gives them someone to work with, its ingrained, memorized. A new pilot may not have landed that plane as successfully. A new nurse may not handle a code as calmly. But its misleading to insist they can "push" their emotions aside. They are still there.

I didn't say anything about fabrication. I am wondering why she's mentioned it at all.

Maybe because it is at the forefront of her mind right now?
