They already know how to fertilize a woman's egg with another woman's egg. They've known for decades. It was a man who discovered it, after another man wrote about it in science fiction. That happens a lot with science fiction, it pre-dating the actual discovery. Weird, but true. There was also a test tube baby grown to full term and she grew up into at least an older pre-teen, though after a while she stopped appearing in the news and people started talking like it never happened.

Women do not keep men around, just because it is the only means of procreation. Many women actually like men and vice versa.
