If you can live with the safety level offered by generic products manufactured in Asia and based on expired patents, then I can agree on the following: no import taxes on them, make them Walmart-cheap! But if you would rather like FDA regulations to kick in

Are you against all generics or just those made in Asia?

- Many major pharmaceutical companies have set up their regional headquarters and manufacturing plants in Singapore.
- Generics are based on expired patents - that's what makes them generics.
- The FDA regulates generics as well as brands.

Neither.

You have to spell out false dichotomies for HW. And simple concepts like personal responsbility.

personal responsibility.. yeah, but it takes two to tango.. more men need to take their personal responsibility seriously.. kwim? there are still plenty of guys that look for one night stands with unprotected sex.. and they usually arent the young guys... [8|]

Absolutely.

FR...sew their zippers shut and see em change their minds:)[;)]

kalikshama -> RE: Support No-Cost Birth Control for All Women (12/5/2011 10:22:54 AM)

If this is what the men who really, really should be using a condom do...

U.S. women in prostitution interviewed reported the following: 47% stated that men expected sex without a condom; 73% reported that men offered to pay more for sex without a condom; 45% of women said they were abused if they insisted that men use condoms. (Raymond and Hughes: 2001).

Lucylastic -> RE: Support No-Cost Birth Control for All Women (12/5/2011 10:28:21 AM)

And women get scorned by everyone if they admit to being abused for demanding condom use, its still happens today, amongst women who arent on the prostitute roles.
I just dealt with a friend of my daughters who has a broken wrist caused by a pissed off boyfriend for not wanting to ride "bareback"
Im yes a little bit anti this subject right now, so I not gonna post anymore.

From the point of view of safety, I am against generics made in Asia.

Good for them. But this does not nullify my concerns regarding generic formulations from Guangzhou.

quote:

Worth reiterating, even though it's redundant. Expired patents mean that a drug can be cheap. Expired patent also means that you are receiving a product based on 20+ years old state of knowledge.

quote:

- The FDA regulates generics as well as brands.

And I was referring to a very hypothetical situation when, in order not to pay the FDA guys their salaries and research costs, we drop this protection, to make drugs dirt cheap. I hope we don't really want this? So, somebody has to foot the bill...

One more thing: Should men also behave responsibly? Sure. Should Viagra be dropped from the list of essential medications? Absolutely.

two recent studies published in the BMJ medical journal which found birth control pills containing drospirenone and has almost twice as likely to cause blood clots when compared to older oral contraceptives containing the progestin levonorgestrel.

I love these guys ... they scream HAVE THE BABY... HAVE THE BABY... WE SUPPORT THE RIGHT TO LIFE.

And then when the babies are born regardless of the circumstances, they say FUCK YOU AND THE BABY. WE COULD GIVE A FUCK IF YOU STARVE.

hes got a restraining order against him and charged with ABH.
but she is getting a lot of blame and poo flung at her from his friends at uni and even some of her girlies are less than friendly
a for getting him into trouble
b for not letting him do what he wants,
c for not being on the pill, so its her own fault

"No cost"? "Free"? Does it mean that developing, manufacturing and distribution of these things costs nothing, or rather that someone else is forced to pay the bill?

Would you rather pass out a few condoms or support and educate the spawn that results from their nonavalibility?

Guess what? Poor people are gonna fuck.. The choice of the taxpayers is to support birth control or the 9 months later result.

As a taxpayer, I'd a hell of a lot rather buy condoms and BC pills.

Maybe I missed something, but from what I understand this recommendation isn't just about "poor people".  The middle class, wealthy, and even the extremely wealthy would also get the "no co-pay" benefit.  And somebody DOES have to make up for what they aren't paying for.  I'm willing to bet it isn't going to be the pharmaceutical companies, the pharmacies, or the doctors writing the prescriptions that make up the difference.

I'm on disability with a fixed income.  I am taking 10 different meds due either directly or indirectly to that disability, and I'm on oxygen at night.  Guess what.  NOBODY is lining up to make it so that I don't have to pay a co-pay on any of those things.  So why should my costs, whether through higher taxes, higher insurance rates, or higher med costs, be higher just so that some rich bitch doesn't have to co-pay for her birth control?

I could go along with Kalikshama's sliding scale idea though.  I don't mind helping those that really need the help.

As far as how it should be handled in relation to religious beliefs...well, I'm staying out of that one.

Why SHOULDN'T women foot the entire bill for their contraceptives? It isn't really preventive medicine. Pregnancy is not a disease. It breaks a perfectly functioning reproductive system.

JanahX -> RE: Support No-Cost Birth Control for All Women (12/5/2011 10:56:37 AM)

what about the cost of just one of these babies being paid by medicaid (taxpayers) + medical costs to prepare to have the baby (taxpayers) plus all the medical aftercare and foodstamps and low income houseing and all the WELFARE programs that go with the BABIE(S). (taxpayers)

What is the actual cost of just bringing the kid into the world (excluding the costs after the fact) in the amt. of birth control it would supply instead?

Just wondering ... any financial/math people like to throw some figures out there?

Medicaid pays for Viagra.... Medicaid also pays for some birth control.

What are the uses of Viagra?

What are the uses of birth control?

Dont look in the back of the book, boys and girls. Lets see what you know off the top of your heads.
