exactly , which is why I was put on BC after I had my tumour removed back in june,, to shrink re-occuring cysts and fibroids so I dont have the same happen.
I was quite prepared to have a hysterectomy, my gyno said it was his last resort and just removed the tumuor and sewed me backup.

tazzygirl -> RE: Support No-Cost Birth Control for All Women (12/5/2011 4:55:17 PM)

These types of "discussions" always leaves me feeling like some people, and not just always men, want women to stay in a subservient role, dependent on a man, or society, instead of allowing her to take charge of her own life.

Lucylastic -> RE: Support No-Cost Birth Control for All Women (12/5/2011 5:15:23 PM)

It is a deal breaker with me, ignorance over birth control and womens rights, serious deal breaker in any situation.

tazzygirl -> RE: Support No-Cost Birth Control for All Women (12/5/2011 5:17:20 PM)

Ignorance doesnt bother me too much... as long as they dont try and force their ignorant views into my world. most men realize quickly its best to just shut up when it comes to this issue.

The man being the exception. He is well versed on much of this.

There are also other treatments for endometriosis using NaProTechnology. Prescribing hormonal contraceptives, more often than not, is just trying to slap a bandaid on it and mask the symptoms.

Why start with staples when a band-aid can often work.

Would you rather actually be treated for the disease or just mask the symptoms?

NaProTechnology

Its used for fertility problems. Not all women who have endometriosis are looking to get pregnant again.

http://www.naprotechnology.com/index.html

Unlike common suppressive or destructive approaches, NaProTECHNOLOGY works cooperatively with the procreative and gynecologic systems. When these systems function abnormally, NaProTECHNOLOGY identifies the problems and cooperates with the menstrual and fertility cycles that correct the condition, maintain the human ecology, and sustain the procreative potential.

Women now have an opportunity to know and understand the causes of the symptoms from which they suffer.

Endo is a fertility issue in the sense that it is a problem with the reproductive system.

oral sex == no cost birth control

anal sex == no cost birth control

Seems simple to me!

I should have qualified that with wilful ignorance:) or arrogance.

In NaPro, the goal is pregnancy. NaPro isnt needed to diagnose endometriosis.

In this case? Mask the symptoms as long as possible. A BSO isnt something I would want unless it was absolutely necessary. Every part of the female organs release hormones of one kind or another. Removing any part means replacement. If a pill can minimize the pain to a tolerant level, why rip out all the pluming along with the side effects from that procedure?

So, in your opinion, a 10,000 dollar surgery is cheaper than free birth control?

If I'm not the one paying for it? Yes. Why would anyone NOT want a procedure that can end that kind of suffering? Why be dependent on a pill that they have to cry about getting for free? Just get the surgery and move on with your life. Then it wouldn't matter to you if the pill was free or not.

Do you have health insurance?

If so, you're part of the pool that's paying for it.

Standards of care, which is what every physician and medical center operates under, indicates birth control and NSAIDs as first line.

There are also women for whom a hysto is not a viable alternative because of other issues. In my case, I also have an abnormal immune system as well as abnormal CD44 proteins and my endo was diagnosed so late that I had already developed scar tissue fusing my bladder to my uterus (and my ovary to my pelvic wall.. etc., etc) which is why laps never totally helped alleviate my pain. When I was finally diagnosed the damage was done and I've been living with it ever since.

My strands run from my left kidney, engulf my left ovary, down the pelvic wall and are secured and fused to my bladder. On the other side, it's not as bad but my right ovary is connected to the pelvic wall and down to the bladder as well. The biggest issue is actually not the kidney, but the bladder. The organ is so delicate that docs just don't want the liability for performing surgery on it for this issue.

As I'm sure you know (but others have made it clear they don't) there is no cure for endo. There is only treatment and BCPs are, in my case, the only option I have at this point.

I was hoping that once I was done going through the 'change' that my endo would become a non-issue (as it is in the case of 95% of women who have it) but my scars are so bad that even though I'm all changed now.. I still get the endo pain.

But, I'm ever the optimist and my motto is and has been "enjoy the pain while you have it and remember it fondly when it's gone."

We maso's are really a weird bunch. [:D]

tazzygirl -> RE: Support No-Cost Birth Control for All Women (12/5/2011 5:52:27 PM)

Im sorry you are going through all the Bita. I dont mind people not knowing, but I wish they would ask instead of assuming.

Surgery isnt always a viable option.... it is typically the last option.

hes got a restraining order against him and charged with ABH.
but she is getting a lot of blame and poo flung at her from his friends at uni and even some of her girlies are less than friendly
a for getting him into trouble
b for not letting him do what he wants,
c for not being on the pill, so its her own fault

Was she being sexually active? (And yes, that's a rhetorical question given what you've already said.) If she was, then she should be on the pill or some other form of birth control anyway. Does that justify the violence, not at all. But why should she get to demand he wear the condom when it's just as easy, if not easier, for her to swallow a tiny pill (or use one of the many other methods for birth control)?

BC pills don't protect against STD's. Some of those damn things can kill you.
Are you being obtuse on purpose?

Lucylastic -> RE: Support No-Cost Birth Control for All Women (12/5/2011 6:17:48 PM)

he didnt respond to my answer, so my guess is yes

Then it's incumbent on the one being sexually active to ensure she's not spreading her legs for someone with an STD, isn't it? I sure hope she wouldn't have a boyfriend who was carrying something nasty. That'd be flat-out irresponsible. Are *you* being obtuse on purpose?

Just how the FUCK is someone supposed to know that?

People with an STD don't have a neon sign over their head. They don't have a tattoo on their forehead. That person that proclaims their purity and faithfulness might have fucked someone 2 hours ago and you'll never know it.

Put a condom on the damn thing. Don't be a damn fool.

A guy that would get irate because a woman, whether on the pill or not, insists he wear a condom is a dumbass.
