sexyred1 -> RE: Intriguing Usernames (12/4/2011 5:29:18 PM)

Mine is not creative at all, which is unusual for me. I love words, but when I joined here I just made this up fast.

Not intriguing at all, I am afraid. [&o]

Lockit -> RE: Intriguing Usernames (12/4/2011 5:29:47 PM)

Mine isn't wonderful, but it doesn't mean chastity! [:D]

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Intriguing Usernames (12/4/2011 5:37:19 PM)

Mine is inspired by a character I made up when I was younger, and doing a lot of drawing. Somewhere in all of that, it dawned on me that a lot of the characters were personifications of personlity thingies. :p that character is fitting for this place.
And the "bopeep" business is an obvious play. :p

Lockit = lock him/her/it in your heart

Clickofheels -> RE: Intriguing Usernames (12/4/2011 5:39:24 PM)

Duskypearls... <smiles>

Interesting topic... although it appears the FAKE is not very appreciative.
(One needn't read many "you wills" in a profile without arriving at the obvious deduction, eh?)
Ahhh yes, back to topic!

My name was NOT chosen as a result of the Wizard of Oz...although many people are assuming so.
I am a very feminine Domme, and love to wear high heels. So you will surely hear the "click of (my) heels" when I am near.

As for the avatar attached to my profile (since many people ask), it is my own artwork.

Looking forward to hearing some more stories,
Clickofheels

Fornica -> RE: Intriguing Usernames (12/4/2011 5:42:31 PM)

Fornication. Not because of sex, but because I swear too much.

Mine is Portuguese for butterfly. I have a "thing" for butterflies; love their beauty. I collect butterfly jewelry and the like. I also love the words that describe them in various languages (I'm a language geek). I tried using "butterfly" but obviously it was taken and I didn't want to be "butterfly10293848..." So then I tried Mariposa (Spanish) and Papillon (French); no go there either. So Portuguese was next on the list. It wasn't until I got to CM that it occurred to me that the symbolism of breaking out of the chrysalis into a new life was apropos.

So, Duskypearls, what is the story behind your intriguing name?

Beautiful! Butterflies are so powerful, ephemeral, and transformational. Do you know that in Homeopathic Medicine, there are Butterfly Remedies that speak solely to those with such constitutions? Fascinating stuff. The remarkable Homeopath, Patricia Le Roux (recently deceased), proved many butterflies remedies, as can be read in her gem of a book, "Butterflies."

Uh oh, I was afraid somebody was going to ask me about mine. Do you really, really want to know?

Anaxagoras -> RE: Intriguing Usernames (12/4/2011 6:03:46 PM)

Mine relates to an ancient Greek philosopher from the 6th Century BC, who's writing doesn't survive, just a few ideas that are relayed through the ideas of others. He developed the notion that the sun was a stone probably bigger than the Peloponnese, quite radical at a time then people believed it was a god that dipped into the sea!

But, but, but...not to worry poise, I find them all intriguing. Needless to say, I do not expect those who feel it is too personal a question to reply.

So whaddya say girlie, will you spill?

One should never say spill to someone named poise. [;)]

Right you are, my mistake!

My name represents my inner (and sometimes outer) ballerina.

How gracefully appropriate.

Loose Elastic

A nickname I had in nursing school,(1980 ish) ............back in the day we all lived in the same "hut" but in separate rooms, I would go out partying on the weekend and occasionally came back with my underwear in my pocket. I had a message board on my door and people would leave notes to loose elastic. it morphed slightly.

Ive been Lucylastic online for 16 years. My family accepts calls for Lucy, or Luce.

OMG, that's too funny for words! How clever of you. And your underwear was in your pocket because of why???......Please, finish the story. Enquiring minds want to know!

Apparently, Anaxagoras was a remarkable philosopher, at the very least. Thanks for sharing that with me.

I'm curious. Tell me how you came to know about him?

Who needs intriguing when you've got a username that blares, HOT STUFF? Sometimes simple, direct advertising is the best way to go!

I am fascinated by the many beautiful and unusual usernames on this site, and wonder if any would be willing to share their meanings, and the reasons behind having chosen them.

I came up with the top 500 best ones....gave away about 15 or so just to get the ball rolling/goose the market so to speak...now I make a six figure income simply on the monthly rentals of same.

He was an interesting philosopher and underrated, particularly because he really developed the idea of Nous, which the three great ancient Greek philosophers (Socrates, Plato and Aristotle) took on as important elements for their own philosophies. I first heard of this chap mentioned in Plato's Apologia which I read at university. This text was about Socrates' trial in Athens (he was subsequently ordered to commit suicide) for blasphemy. Anaxagoras was mentioned by Soc as he was exiled from Athens for the same crime a few decades earlier.

Would me telling you that I have an extreme dislike of underwear be a good reason?
grins well it was worth a try
To be honest , I had a bit of a "free spirit" and knickerless was so much easier in the car. or where ever I found myself:)

edited to add, the dislike on undies is true for what its worth, but I was a "slut" too LOL
