Mine is because I am a NiceButMeanGirl. I can be very nice, sweet and loving, BUT I can also be a sadistic bitch. haha

Because I didn't want to use the name the public commonly knows me by I had to pick one that "fit" So I picked one that had more than one meaning, to me at least. The first does have a little to do with bdsm. W.H.A.P. is what I do so most people that see the name can get the thought behind it. The deeper one that few understand is a personal thing. I believe everyone is guilty of something and everyone should feel real pain for what they have done. I believe it can raise them to a higher level within themself that they may not be able to reach any other way. Add to that the belief that pain is, in and of it's self, immortal and you will end up with my name.

*oh* and I hate the word mistress so I never let anyone call me that. I let them slide if they can remember to just say Miss.

Oh me oh my oh! How inspiring!

As for me, DuskyPearls is an obvious combination of two words. Once upon a time, through another site, my username was simply Pearl, and through that site, was brought into the life of a very powerful and remarkable fellow, the likes of whom I have yet to again encounter. This fellow was deeply enamored with me, and I, him, and once, in a moment of great passion he called me:

“Pearl of the Orient, my dusky Armenian beauty, the Queen of my tent,”

Needless to say, I was never the same after that, or him.

It is in honoring the beauty of that memory, I put the two together.

Wow. That's a vivid image, Dp. I can see why it invoked that emotion you felt. Thank you for sharing.

BK, I'm so glad it moved you. BTW, I've pulled up your Cat Quote thing, and was both pleased and astounded to find so many good ones. From one cat person to another, thank you.

Delilya -> RE: Intriguing Usernames (12/4/2011 9:17:33 PM)

In 1998 when I very first got online, my daughter was pregnant with a little girl. Her name was to be Lily. The De are the first 2 letters of my name, the Lily for my granddaughter and the a is my daughters last letter. 3 generations rolled into one. Sadly Lily was born still. I've kept the name throughout the years as a memory to her.

What a loving and thoughtful thing to do.

See, you all confirm exactly what I suspected I'd find with my query; interesting, intriguing, heartfelt, meaning and stories, that I'm truly savoring.

I had to think long and hard.

Stragely, Long&Hard never sprang to mind.

Lump me in with the non-intriguing ones. I was looking at my calico cat when I signed up.

myrgth -> RE: Intriguing Usernames (12/5/2011 12:00:13 AM)

Mine is the old English spelling of the word mirth:  full of gaiety and amusement accompanied with laughter.

I'm an upbeat, positive person who is easily amused and laughs a lot.  It fit.

MistressDarkArt -> RE: Intriguing Usernames (12/5/2011 12:04:07 AM)

I'm an intuitive who reads cards and uses a gazing board. One of the ladies I often read for calls me 'Mistress of The Dark Arts.' Needed a log-in for CM, so...

Duskypearls, I love your story about your guy..."Queen of my tent"! Magnificent, thanks for sharing. And for starting this thread! [sm=cute.gif]

MistrixMsE -> RE: Intriguing Usernames (12/5/2011 12:18:30 AM)

Mine is my name, title, moniker.. whatever... it is simply me.... Mistrix Ms E

Mistrix specifically I have used since the 80s, initially it was my name on message boards/usenet & beyond.. I created it of my own design.. it then carried over to my kink life. I always felt Mistress implied too much familiarity - you cheat on your spouse with a mistress, you suffer for Mistrix. I later found that a Canadian scholar proposed it in the 60s, prior to Ms being in vogue as a title that wouldn't be based on a woman's marital status, and I was even more fond of it as a result. Its also nice being the only one...

That's a wonderful memory, Dusky :) thanks for sharing it with us!

gungadin09 -> RE: Intriguing Usernames (12/5/2011 4:55:56 AM)

Gunga Din is a poem by Rudyard Kipling about an Indian in the British army, who gets killed running water to the troops.
