Using FR, since I could care less about the troll.

My nick is french for perfect cat (or perfect pussy, if you will), and was giving to me by the main man in my life.

It is either an oxymoron (how can any cat be perfect, they are so bad?) or a redundancy (all cats are perfect! duh!), depending on your take on pussies er cats.

Personally, I'm so bad I'm good.

I am enjoying the many responses, so ty Dusky.

angel has been my offline nickname for many a year, cause i am so saintly and serene, of course. As for my nickname here, the concept is pretty much clear but its a tribute to a Man who left us way to young. i was sitting in the garage one day in my favorite past time, pretty new to being owned and painting my toenails talking to Master while he fixed some bike for someone - grins handing him wrong tools when he asked for a tool - why he asked me when his tool box was right next to him too - i will never know as he always complained i gave him the wrong one lol. His best friend walked in the garage and came over and kissed me (faints) and proclaimed to my Master, You are sooo lucky to own such an angel. To my horror lol my Master snorted, not soft or whatever, but so loud as if he didn't believe i was such an angel (harumphs). i was mortified! So i wrinkled my nose and stuck my tongue out at him and his best friend saw and laughed so hard and said, okay barely an angel, but still an angel. Soo from that day forward to his best friend i was barelynangel.

I use it online as a tribute because he died way to young being hit by a drunk driver one summer night right in front of his son and i while driving home on his Harley. Hence the name itself is very special to me as a whole.

angel

As for me, DuskyPearls is an obvious combination of two words. Once upon a time, through another site, my username was simply Pearl, and through that site, was brought into the life of a very powerful and remarkable fellow, the likes of whom I have yet to again encounter. This fellow was deeply enamored with me, and I, him, and once, in a moment of great passion he called me:

“Pearl of the Orient, my dusky Armenian beauty, the Queen of my tent,”

Needless to say, I was never the same after that, or him.

It is in honoring the beauty of that memory, I put the two together.

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing that beautiful story! That makes yours one of the most intriguing names on here.

Pam, I've been looking forward to your contribution here. As a Kipling fan, I'm familiar with the poem. Would love to know your motivation for making it your name, if you care to share that.

I used to say it's because I hang from trees and tinkle in the wind.

Truth is, the night I joined up, I wanted a new name but couldn't think of one. I was living along the coast then, and the autumn gale force winds coming across the bay were making the wind chimes I had on the porch clang like church bells. I said, ok, and created windchymes, adding the 'y' just for shits and grins. That's all, wish I had a really touching story like so many here do :)

Mine is the old English spelling of the word mirth:  full of gaiety and amusement accompanied with laughter.

I'm an upbeat, positive person who is easily amused and laughs a lot.  It fit.

A perfect fit, then. If only we had more like you in this world.

Mine is my name, title, moniker.. whatever... it is simply me.... Mistrix Ms E

Mistrix specifically I have used since the 80s, initially it was my name on message boards/usenet & beyond.. I created it of my own design.. it then carried over to my kink life. I always felt Mistress implied too much familiarity - you cheat on your spouse with a mistress, you suffer for Mistrix. I later found that a Canadian scholar proposed it in the 60s, prior to Ms being in vogue as a title that wouldn't be based on a woman's marital status, and I was even more fond of it as a result. Its also nice being the only one...

So, fascinating and unique you are!

i'm a member of another site where i have a different name which is taken here already. i got fed up of trying other names around that as they were all taken.

needlesandpins is a favorite song of mine, but it also fits in with the first weekend i spent with my playmate. we were at an after party where a demo of needle play was on. i stood watching in horror (i hate needles) and awe with my playmate behind me. i so wanted to be touching him while this was happening but felt i couldn't. to say i was prickled with excitement is a bit of an understatement. so the name seemed fitting.

Perhaps you underestimate the value and effect your name has. I find it light, charming and whimsical.

I used to be on another site where my username was 'Missy', the name I was often called by my parents when I was a child.

That name was taken on here, so I pondered long and hard about my new name. And then it came to me - in the 'real' world I am me. In the kink world I am my other self. Both are a core part of me but for quite a long time I kept them very separate.

I was scared of my feelings, wants and desires. I hated that I was 'different', and angry that I was made this way and not 'normal'.

Years have passed since that first knowing, and I have grown to understand that myself and my other self are one and the same, and should be embraced with love because they are what makes the whole ME. I've lost the fear and the angst and I have found where I belong.

Ishtar is my first name.

My father is student of ancient religions and myths, my and my sisters' and brother's names that are derived from his interest in such.
Ishtar is the Assyrian and Babylonian goddess of fertility, love, war, and sex.

Interestingly enough, a sister of mine is named after a Goddess of serenity and peace, and we've both been told that we fit out names perfectly.
