Putting aside the whole "Wow, Peter King the provider of material support to terrorists and complicit in the murder of an American citizen in London isn't sitting in prison for the rest of his life?" aspect of this, there's some insight to be gained. Newt's problem is that he NEEDS the teabagger's support for primary wins. Newt's problem is -- as the poster child for "Washington Insider" he's NEVER going to get the teabagger's support. Without the teabaggers destroying their own self-identity as being against "Washington Insiders"....

Mitt Romney instead of the resurgent Gingrich, the man who led the 1994 "revolution" in which LaTourette was first elected. Personally, LaTourette said, he has a "hangover" from the days of Gingrich's speakership, when "everything always seemed to be on fire." Ouch!

Just why is it that they're not supporting Ron Paul, who seems closest in ideology to them, and seems to have the fewest skeletons? The same Gingrich who sat as speaker of the House nearly 20 years ago as Congress passed bill after bill benefitting corporate CEO's, at the expense of American workers whose manufacturing jobs were shipped overseas. And of course once he was tossed out as speaker of the house the budget surplus nearly doubled. His leadership was budget deficit from 1994-1997 and surplus 1998-1999 but overall his leadership added more debt to the United States. However the bulk of the surplus was created by Clintons pushing through a tax bill on the rich.

What makes anyone think that saying Gingrich was the last speaker to have a balanced budget is a smart thing to harp on about?? why on earth would you vote in someone who last did something"decent," how many years ago??? And THEN went on to fannie and freddie? ya, thats realistic good voting NOT

He layed it into the grinder and pushed as hard as possible and in any direction that would produce for himself the most yield possible. He hasn`t had his month yet.By about the time the Iowa votes are counted,folks will be reminded not about newt 20 years ago but about newt 3 years ago. Between the two frontrunners,I`d prefer to run against newty.Maybe the cons won`t disappoint us? [:D]

well, since as I pointed out, after he was tossed as speaker of the house, the surplus doubled (this would indicate even to an untrained mind that someone else was speaker of the house) and so in any event he was not the last, and that the entire premise forwarded is of course, as always, fanciful asswipe, not grounded in any factual reality.

If I were a republican I sure wouldn't vote for him! He had a lot to do with pushing that "Nafta" down The People's throats!
