750,000 have viewed Perry's ad, meaning a staggering 40 percent of viewers have not only disapproved of the spot, but openly expressed their dislike online.

Needless to say, the Perry campaign isn't happy. Their previous ad "Faith" is also posted on YouTube, doesn't prominently display the "Likes" versus "Dislikes" count, and still has over 25,000 "dislikes."

The video itself has been so controversial, that Perry's own staff is divided over it. Sources close to the Perry campaign have told the Huffington Post that even top officials in the campaign were uncomfortable with the language of the ad. Nonetheless, it began running in Iowa on Wednesday.

The Perry campaign's newest ad, "Repeal," which touts Perry's promise to "repeal Obamacare," doesn't give YouTube viewers the option of to Like, Dislike or even post comments below the video, as pointed out by the Perry Presidential blog, maintained by the Houston Chronicle and Hearst Newspapers.

When I 1st heard about the song,it was called the worst song ever made in history.

The youngster in the vid didn`t write or produce it.

The video was a birthday present for her were she and her friends could have fun and play rock-star.

It cost four thousand dollars and the guy you heard intro her and do the small bit driving alone, is the producer.

There are many such vids(by the same vanity-video co.) but for some reason...this one went viral.

It`s so bad it`s good.

Note.....Black`s family have become rich from the song.

The producer....

Rick Perry is a moron. It's been obvious from the beginning. The repubs are not going to get ANYwhere as long as they keep pandering to the religious right. There was actually a good editorial in the NY Times about this either yesterday or today.

This?

Goodbye to 'Gays, Guns & God'

How do you praise the sanctity of traditional heterosexual marriage when the best-known nuptials of the year, between a Kardashian and a basketball player, lasted all of 72 days? Or, for that matter, when a possible Republican nominee for president, Newt Gingrich, cares so much about marriage that he’s tried it three times?

You don’t. The above mockeries of marriage are just the latest reasons one of the most potent wedge issues of American politics — the banner of gays, guns and God — will have little impact next year.

This trio is usually trotted out in big swaths of the West, in rural or swing districts and in Southern states at the cusp of the Bible Belt. The proverbial three G’s was the explanation in Thomas Frank’s entertaining book “What’s the Matter With Kansas” for why poor, powerless whites would vote for a party that promises nothing but tax cuts for the rich.

Perhaps they could get Mickey Rooney and Liz Taylor to be the spokesfolks for their one man one woman campaigns.

Anybody notice that Perry wore the same style coat in his "anti-gay" ad that Heath Ledger wore in Brokeback Mountain?

I really don't want to get too deep into this one because emotions will always run high on a subject like this but, I will say two things:

Marriage was always a religious exercise until the government decided that they could enhance revenue by charging people for a marriage "license".

In order to sway people to their cause, they put out the idea that the new technology (at that point) of testing blood for STDs and to make sure that people that were too closely related wouldn't accidentally marry, was proper and mandated by a higher authority (the prohibition against marriage within the third kindred is a biblical reference).

My point, in a nutshell is we, the people, screwed up by allowing the government a little bit of control in a purely religious exercise to begin with.

Second, as far as gays serving in the military; I can make this one short and sweet: 14th Amendment to the Constitution.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

"as far as gays serving in the military"

Seems to me we have a case here though, of church-goers sticking their noses in government`s business.

Yes?

Indeed. Dicky Ricky needs to stop trying to influence the government with his blasted political correctness.

Well, you'd be right but, if you want to accept part of the Constitution (14th Amendment) as an iron-clad reason for gays serving in the military (and I do), then you have to accept that the 1st Amendment is not a "separation of church and state". It is a prohibition of the government establishing a religion or infringing upon religious rights.

Unfortunately, nowhere does the Constitution prohibit religion from influencing or trying to influence laws/the government.

For those that care; the phrase "separation of church and state" comes from a private correspondence between President Jefferson and a friend (whose name escapes me) and should be easily found by searching for the phrase itself and adding "Jefferson letter" to the search.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Jesus my friend, was the one who wanted his religion and government to be separate and apart.

Actually (if I remember correctly), in the letter I referenced, there's evidence to suggest that Jefferson wanted it, also (I LOVE President Jefferson). It helps to remember that history tells us that for a good portion of his life, Jefferson was Athiest/Agnostic and only morphed into Deist/tacit believer toward the end of his life.

What I'm saying is that Jefferson knew that if religion were given any kind of standing in the government, he and people like him would be the first people targeted for some kind of discrimination/persecution.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Edited to add: Okay. I just re-did the research and the letter in which President Jefferson coined the "Wall of separation ..." phrase was in response to one sent to him by a Baptist organization in Massachusetts that was complaining about the state law saying that religious rights were privileges, granted by the state. President Jefferson refused to give an opinion regarding the issue on a state level but re-assured them that he was stout in his support for HIS constitution.

I confused it with another letter in which he explained his reasoning for the second amendment. If you'd like to research that one, type: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed ... Jefferson" into a search engine.

Peace,

Michael

A Christian's Rebuttal to Rick Perry

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppOpOv_kv2s&feature=related

We're not ashamed to admit that we're Christians, but we don't think that being in a pew on Sunday is what makes you one.

We know there is something wrong in this country when you can spin the name of Jesus Christ, the living body of love and grace, into a political platform. Especially when this platform demonizes the very people who sacrifice their own lives so that you can have that platform at all.

Rick Perry, you said that you'll end the war on religion. We're waiting for a president who doesn't use religion merely to influence a political constituency, but instead embraces it as a powerful way to bridge the gap of vast differences among our fellow Americans.

Grace is what makes us strong, and will make us strong again because not our country, nor Rick Perry, nor either of us deserve it.

We're gay, we're straight,
we're black, we're white,
we're rich, we're poor,
we're conservative, we're liberal,
we're Christian, we're not
...and Jesus loves the little children.
All the children of the world.
We strive to love you all extravagantly...
the way that Jesus loved.

We're sisters, and we approve this message.

http://old.news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20111213/ap_on_el_pr/us_perry_gay_bishop

CONCORD, N.H. – The Episcopal Church's first openly gay bishop, Gene Robinson of New Hampshire, says GOP presidential hopeful Rick Perry has hit a new low with a campaign ad attacking President Barack Obama on gay rights and religion.

The ad, intended to appeal to Christian conservatives who typically dominate the Iowa caucuses, features Perry saying there's something wrong in America when gays can serve openly in the military but kids can't pray in schools.

Robinson responded Tuesday with an op-ed in The Washington Post in which he says Perry would be pathetic if he weren't so infuriating. Robinson says someone who aspires to be commander in chief shouldn't denigrate the gay and lesbian soldiers he would lead.

Robinson is the Episcopal bishop in New Hampshire, which holds the first primary Jan. 10.

Should be one to watch.
