I wonder how many detailed, thought out emails are deleted by women who are flooded with emails from men who spam "Wanna fuck?" to every female online. Obviously women respond better to longer emails, but one really loses the motivation to invest a lot of time creating a unique and engaging message when 95% of the time they are ignored and/or deleted unread. There should be a word count for each email in the inbox so you at least know the size of the email you are deleting.

Probably a lot and there's not a damn thing you can do about it. Just keep sending well thought out emails and you'll eventually find a good one. Remember. You don't need all of em (unless you're setting up a brothel on the Iberian Peninsula). You just need one good one and it usually takes time to find her.

Probably more than the number of women who care.

Seriously, from all of the debates that we've had around here about unanswered emails, if you're getting a 5-10% response rate from first contact, you're batting about average.  If it's more, pat yourself on the back.  If it's less, there's something that you can change to improve it.

There are some seriously good past threads on how to do that last part.

I get mail asking me if I want to chat. Delete.

I get mail talking about how sexy I am. Delete.

I get mail with words such as "u" "r" ect. Delete.

I get mail asking if I want to meet someone local. Delete.

I got one the other night asking me what I was doing up at 3 am. Answered.

I get mail asking about something I posted. Answered.

I get mail for information. Answered.

The difference?

Respect. My profile is there for a reason. If someone cant be bothered to read it all... and I know by the responses... Then why should I respond?

I always answered well written emails even if I was not interested in the person. Of course, my standards for "well written" may differ from yours. If you send me a sample first contact email I will be happy to critique it.

@tazzygirl Yes, I agree. If a profile catches my eye, I write at a minimum one good sized paragraph, including info about her that piqued my interest. I like to think of myself as a fairly intelligent guy, with a decent grasp of the English language, and enough social skills to hold a moderately interesting conversation at least. I understand that content is key, my rant was about the losers who have ruined it for many of us with those ridiculous messages just like you described. I don't blame the women at all, I understand why it happens, I'm just ranting in frustration, not expecting any real change, but just so I don't throw my phone across the room. ;)

That "hover" feature is genius. Though I am pretty savage about the "mark as spam" button, and that means I have to open the mail.

I answer polite writings, I got into a convo with some guy today that I hope I was able to advise. Really, though, you are saving time by not getting responses, you already know that those people are not interested.

You can see the basics of an email by hovering over it while it's in the inbox since it shows the first line or two. You can at least tell if it's one or two words. The deletes might be for a lot of reasons, maybe you are out of their range or age or whatever. It's hard to say.

I get one-line mail starting with 'hey' and 'Wanna hook up?', then at least three misspelt words. Delete.

I get mail asking me to domme on-line. Delete.

I get mail asking to meet at local hotels when men are here for 'business'. Delete. And speaking of,

I get mail from married dudes. Deleted, blocked.

And speaking of dickheads, cockshots. Don't. Just don't.

I get mail from Romania and Jordan when I specify local. Deleted.

I get mail from doms and switches: dunno, after all the threats, I don't check my junkmail.

I get copy-n-paste mail outlining guys' fetishes in excruciating detail, and the fetish is on my hard-limit list: deleted/blocked.

I get mail quoting what I told them to quote in my profile from polite compatible literate single straight sub men. Answered.



The difference? Someone who reads with his brain and doesn't lead with his dick.

I don't care who writes me if they're decent! I talk to everyone! Just this week I have discussed parrots AND capybaras AND ceramics all with different people.

I didn't know about that feature since I'm rarely home these days and usually on my phone. That makes me feel a little better. I don't care if someone reads my email and is not interested, that's life and I'm a big boy, I can handle that. It just can be a little demoralizing to frequently put a lot of thought and effort into a message and have it deleted without even reading what it says. Kinda why I quit this site a while ago. Thanks, all, for enabling my need for venting, and offering my advice. Restores a little more faith in the community.

I have to give it up to the people that pointed out the hover and delete. Hover gives a pretty good idea of what the msg says, and if it is worth reading at all. I also have to add that I often delete msgs that are from to far away, just because I got tired of typing "I'm sorry but you are to far away for me to take interest in you" Keep your head up and keep trying. If you have something worthy to offer than at some point you will find someone worthy of offering it to.
