I just want the blame to be where it should be. At least Harper is doing something to reduce, its just not kyoto, unlike the Liberals that did nothing.

Well shit, Lucy, I admit to that in my profile, except I spell it right.

Getting back to the topic though, symbolic bullshit is nice and all, but it gets awfully expensive.

How am I disagreeing with you?...I want all countries to follow the same rules...what is not fair about that? It will cost developed industrial nations a lot more than so called emerging economies. But if the rules are not the same then industries will move to the areas where they don't have to follow stringent regulation... What damn good would that do....Not stop global warming or pollution ...just shift it.

Even Harper finally realizes AGW is a hoax.

Harper was always critical of Koyoto, well before he was elected as PM, it was the Liberals that signed Canada on that thing..

Stay away from the "End Is Near" cults, they just want your money

Al Gore is making a killing off his "green" investments, for example

Despite some being out to make money from "going green" there is no doubt it is happening to some degree. i am just stunned so many of you keep your heads buried in the sand, insisting that it is all a hoax.

I dont want pollution.. i just dont agree with certain govt schemes.. like carbon trading, for instance.. i can pollute all i want if i pay for it??? wtf?

i saw one non-profit that was doing that,.. you donate $ and they plant a tree or something and sell their green credit to a polluter and you donate $ for them to buy the trees so you get a tax deduction/credit too.. I just wonder how anyone verifies that any darn trees were even planted.. Sure sounds great tho.. i think i will start my own green/tree "non-profit" too.. I wonder if my US non-profit can plant those trees in Costa Rica..

And this year in CA if you build a new house it has to be "green", that is, "green" according to their standards.. so one requirement it has to be wired for solar.. except its rare anyone in CA puts solar on their house.. especially since the cities see new homes and solar as a cash cow. One city in SoCal charges about $14,000 for the building permit to put solar on your house.. that is before you pay for the panels and installation.. wtf? Not to mention all cost and material going into prewire each home for solar is a waste of resources if its not used, which 99.9% wont be.. that just doesnt make much sense to me..

Its the govt schemes that get me scratching my head...

Pollution worldwide I believe has to be cut down to an absolute minimum, no more; '' Let's make loads of money and stuff the enviroment '', because it has been seen and proved that pollution affects life, not just the critters that have no say, but our lives too.

But this AGW stuff being attributed wholely to man, I am as of yet unconvinced it is us or just us, no doubt we have an impact, but all of it I doubt and that because although we are well able to record change, we seem unable to give adequate reasons for that change, that being we simply do not know enough about the workings of this planet to jump to conclusions.

The kyoto agreement was doomed from the start as many here have already said, but as soon as money is involved in business which is what the AGW cult is, all sense goes out the window, as hey, money is being made and money made on what could very well be fairy stories. But if a Kyoto type agreement is to exist, I agree with Kdsub, what is decided must affect all at the same level, as if anything else, well it is just inhibiting economies and achieving very little except someone somewhere getting wealthy for nothing.

Carbon credits, surely isn't that a license to print money ?

But as all of us are born and exist on this planet which is hard enough at the best of times, why make people feel guilty about their existence by insisting they must pay for the amount of carbon they produce by just existing, surely carbon credits are just another tax on living, another reason why such an idea is a license to make money.

Far from picky. There is at least one AGW zealot here that used logic to support it being a pollutant that was so preposterous it could have been formulated in Hudson County, NJ.

Everybody gets a cut too, except the consumer. Al Gore makes money off of it, GE makes money off of it, governments make money and grow more powerful because of it, but the people who need energy to live their lives would pay dearly.

Care to spend an hour in a room with 5% CO2 and repeat that?
