I saw the original in the theater when I was quite young - it was a life changing experience, if only because it made me think that sci-fi and space battles were THE COOLEST THING EVER!!!!!! Alas, how was I to know what it would all come to decades later in "The Phantom Menace"?

So I guess Princess Leia's safeword was "Strangle Master with a chain"...

Was the scene with the human Jabba actually in the first movie? I thought it was an out take.
(Admittedly, the proper version of the first flick, with no cgi'd aliens in the crowd scenes and han shooting first, has now been wiped from history so it's impossible to check...)

(Didn't spot that this had been addressed already. Mea culpa.)
