Thanks for the great receipt storage tips!  Sometimes it's the most obvious that you just don't think about.  I started putting my gift cards in a drawer in my kitchen, but somehow those cards I lost never resurfaced.

I do like the idea of a receipt box.  I think I'll do that.

I also decided from now on, all power chords would be labeled and kept in a drawer in my office, but I've never gotten around to doing that.

I really miss that bra. It was comfortable. And it's nowhere in the house, I went through all my mom's bras, since hers look similar. Nope.

Putting things away is only good if you keep track of where you left it. My grandmother endlessly put things away--whereever there was space for them!

My Meatloaf Bat out of Hell CD. I lose and find that thing about 3 times a year. Right now, i'm looking for it again.

I misplaced a kayak once. How do you misplace an eight foot long, bright red boat?

I am always misplacing my cell phone. Usually leave it on a shelf in the car and then kick myself for having to walk back out in the cold to get the darn thing. I don't have too much of a problem with screwdrivers but measuring tapes.. for some reason never can find one when I need one!
There was actually a snipet on one of those morning talk/news shows earlier this week about entering rooms and forgetting why you're there. I wish I had paid better attention but it seemed the gist was crossing a threshold resets the brain so it forgets what you were doing. They say it happens to everyone whether they want to admit it or not. When it happens to me I just go back to where I started and the thought usually returns.

Ugh. I have a terrible memory in combination with randomly putting things in random places. Like making myself a drink, putting it down somewhere, doing something and wondering why I'm thirsty? Oh yeah, it's because I lost my drink!!! In my house!!!

And it's not uncommon for me to call my cellphone so I can find it.

While at home, I usually have to put important documents, on my loungeroom floor, set out by date/relevance. That way I see them everyday, and have to walk over them so I don't forget about them

It gets worse than just forgetting where you put something. I often get off the boat to go somewhere forgetting to take the car keys with me. I go back aboard for the keys, do something for a moment or two and proceed to go back to the car without the keys, again. My forgetful best is 4 or 5 times till I get it right.

Of all the things I've ever lost, I miss my mind the most.

I have a whole collection of Allen keys the same size (if that helps), they come free with furniture items.

With some risk of notch erosion you can use a flat head on a Philips.
