There is no happiness or success in this, and congratulations are not in order.

We have killed thousands of US soldiers and wasted trillions of dollars in this fiasco.  There is no reason to believe that Iraq will not descend into civil war, and that the ensuing government will be friendly to the US.

We never should have invaded in the first place.  Our withdrawal is simply an acknowledgement that the invasion was one of the biggest mistakes of all time.

Obama accomplished nothing by withdrawing except to keep a promise, and to realize that the entire invasion was destined to failure from the start.

Condolences to the families of those who died in a senseless war.

Our going there was one of the worst blunders in the history of this country....and of war.

Our leaving (based on current conditions) is equally foolish.

And another attack... [:D]

Actually Sanity, if you add carefully reading other peoples' posts to your skill set, you'll discover that I don't make a single personal attack on you.[:D]

My posts are comments on your posts and are specifically and clearly directed at your posts and the political positions they try to promote.

The only personal comment I made was to praise you for discovering the virtue of consistency. If that's an attack then we have very different understandings of what the term means.

Of course, deflecting my criticisms of your position and the absurd content of your posts is yet another way of diverting focus from the poverty of the bankrupt looney Right position and ideology your espouse.

No one is fooled. [:D]

Sanity -> RE: Iraq war over, congradulations to our troops and thanks to President Obama for keeping a promise. (12/22/2011 8:12:16 PM)

And another... [:D]

Could you be any more predictable?

Of course lucy, because such posts as these are the best that you (or most of your friends) can muster against my reasoned discourse, in which I patiently explain the reasons why I hold the position that I do

crap like that is going to put me in the hospital , I think I gave myself a hernia..... well reasoned discourse my left testicle, you havent proven one point, you have offered zero resources agreeing with your assertions not even a newsmax or michell malkin quote..not one lousy bit of evidence to support your argument. Well reasoned discourse should include such non attacks as

Also, remember that Saddam & Sons killed many more than that, easily.

It was no fairy tale la-la land before we got there, despite what certain leftists delude themselves into believing

Again, dear - for the most part, the deaths in Iraq following the liberation were Muslim on Muslim homicides

You cant sleep until you convince yourself that the United States is pure evil though, can you

YOU really havent shown any "reasons at all.....

BTW?
In a predominantly Muslim country, what you are saying about muslim on muslim homicides would be the truth in peacetime anyway let alone saddams murders, he is muslim too no?
gasp
Whats your point???

well reasoned I think not...
you have not said anything to warrant more than what you get.. must try harder...

I further note that Sanity has made no attempt to defend the looney Right ideology that has been repeatedly accused of being responsible for the Iraq fiasco.

While his silence here is understandable, his failure to mount any defence whatsoever for the ideology that shapes his take on reality, and instead, continually offer us gibberish, is telling.

The looney Right was responsible for designing and executing the Iraq fiasco. With the pathetic failure of that adventure, the credibility of the looney Right in the area of foreign affairs is just about non-existent. That part of the political spectrum has nothing interesting or constructive to offer any discussion or analysis of foreign affairs.

Please feel free to challenge my assertions - with evidence, and reasonable and intelligent analysis that proceeds from evidence to conclusion in rational increments. Sanity's failure to challenge them to date can be seen as more evidence (as if it was needed) of the bankruptcy of looney Right politics.

No lucy, sorry.

You need to learn what a personal attack is...the definition, as none of those examples are personal attacks.

And compared to the muck you and yours pull out of your pants and throw at these boards, yes my dear, I am very well reasoned. But alas I cannot continue debating you and yours without sinking eventually to near your level. How can I, or anyone? I mean, I am discussing the causes of the Iraqi casualties and you...

Never mind, I wont describe you posts or your behavior, as you claim it is an attack, especially if my description is anywhere near accurate.

And so on that high note I will bid you a good night. [:)]

And yes, having the ability now to forge their own destiny is indeed a huge improvement over the days in which the Iraqi people were imprisoned in their own country by a truly monstrous team of father and son tyrants

you still haven't answered my question. what have you given for the liberation of iraq?  what did you sacrifice for this victory that gives you the ability to judge its worth?

Termyn8or -> RE: Iraq war over, congradulations to our troops and thanks to President Obama for keeping a promise. (12/22/2011 10:27:01 PM)

"what did you sacrifice for this victory"

If a US citizen he most likely gave a hell of alot of money.

i gave my husband. all the money in the world sort of pales in comparison doesn't it? money you can get more of, husbands are a little harder to come by.

it wasn't worth it. it just was NOT worth the price i paid. that's why i wanted to know what he paid, to see if his measure of the worth was comparable or not. to see if he had any real basis to judge the worth of the accomplishment or not.

So what do you say mr. sanity? what did you give that allows you to judge this war a worthy effort?

This isnt what you claimed though is it ? You claimed the people of Iraq to be liberated. What you refuse to acknowledge is that until they can live life freely, they are no more liberated than before.

Your tactic of claiming personal attacks is nothing new, but just a way to divert the thread from the reality of the situation.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Edit To Add:
Sanity, Lucylastic, Tweakabelle, etc... can we please agree to try to keep this a bit more dignified, as the admins have kindly reminded us already once? Quite apart from a modicum of respect for the lives lost in the war, it is also rather appropriate to be respectful of those 60 killed and 150 injured in the recent massacre. There has been unneccessarily counterproductive content in all our posts, confrontational and antagonistic, even in a lot of the otherwise good ones. I won't need to point out the examples, right?

Let's remember there's people out there right now with more reason for vitriol than us that are managing to keep civil about it.

What have I given?

Beside the fact that you are demanding information that is absolutely none of your business, why would anyone believe that someone has to buy the right to express an opinion?

I doubt that you lost anyone, but if you did its terrible of you to casually use that loss on a message board to try to shut people up whose observations interfere with your propaganda campaigns effectiveness

I'd personally like to see your answer to her question. She gave her husband. What did you give?

Your so called "right" to express an opinion is a freedom. Freedoms aren't given, they are earned. What did you do to EARN that right?
