Donald Trump.  He claims it's because the GOP doesn't meet his lofty standards.  He's threatening to launch a third ring, er, I mean, third party bid.

Trump needs to get over himself.

On second thought, more power to him.  I hope he does run.  It'll ensure none of the crazy people get anywhere near the Oval Office.

Is the new season of Apprentice about to start?

Quick check shows it starts in mid Feb. Guess he wanted some free publicity.

Poor Mr. Trump. He's so largely ... understood. He was better off when he was just a NYC philanderer.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Um, no.  If any of the other GOP possibles (except Palin) switched parties and hinted at a third party run, I'd take it seriously.  Trump has all sorts of motivations, but I honestly don't think he'd be a serious contender.  Maybe he simply wants the ego stroking of an anticipated groundswell of support.  Maybe he wants to kick the GOP in response to being boycotted when he tried to host the debate.  I can't figure out what he wants, but if the GOP can give it to him before he announces a third party bid, I doubt he'd go to the effort to run.

At this point, the only thing Trump has accomplished is earning another article about him.  Maybe that's all he wanted.

he has followers we even had some here.
yes largely tongue in cheek tho Steven .I in no way think he can do anything but harm to the right if he continues on this "legend" building palava.
he stand as much chance as i do, but he CAN do some damage, well to the integrity and gravitas of the gop
sorry had to snicker there

My thought exactly.

Donald's worst nightmare....."Donald Trump who?"

He doesn't care what kind of circus he has to create as long as he stays relevant in some way.

If Trump runs, he will do to the R side exactly what Nader did to Gore. He'll cost em a tight race.

Moonhead -> RE: Guess who just quit the Republican Party? (12/24/2011 5:35:40 AM)

Yep. His hairdo is even dafter than hers these days, which is no mean feat...

Dont count on it. Noone took Nader seriously either but a few thousand votes in FL changed history.

Grianghraf -> RE: Guess who just quit the Republican Party? (12/24/2011 6:00:08 AM)

I always said the guy was not to be trusted. He is first and foremost for the TRUMP PARTY. He's like Ron Paul at least in one respect. Neither one can be trusted. Trump stumbles into a few good ideas. He's a whack job in a lot of others. Remember, this guy has financed liberals in the past. He has HIS best interests at heart, not the nations. A vote for this guy ... well, if you are a leftist, vote for him. He's great for you.

Lucylastic -> RE: Guess who just quit the Republican Party? (12/24/2011 6:19:10 AM)

but for all the wrong reasons

a vote for trump is a wasted vote, why bother...
neocons need all the votes they can get

Just listen to this boob.

Trump does NOT have a number one show and is NOT a good businessman or a billionaire as he claims.

If newty wants to go to guys like this for business advice, our country will never be strong again.

?

Ron Paul has proven to be entirely consistent in his stances over the years.  I would consider him more trustworthy than any other GOP candidate, or Obama himself for that matter.

I agree with you that he happens to be a conservative at the moment, for reasons that don't have to do with his beliefs.

I disagree with your implication that "leftists" would want this guy in office.

The clown cannot lead.  Or for that matter, think about anyone other than himself.  A President must think of ALL the people, not only his constituencies, and Trump may not even think of his constituencies.  The ONLY good reason to elect Trump is if we intended to default on our debts - Trump would negotiate excellent terms.

My compliments, ABM.  That was the most rational post I've see you make yet.

Moonhead -> RE: Guess who just quit the Republican Party? (12/24/2011 8:22:39 AM)

I think he's saying that leftists want Trump to get the Republican nomination, as he's the only possible candidate that teh Kenyan might be able to beat*. You know AZB isn't exactly what you'd call a pragmatist when it comes to political debate, after all...

*(I doubt he's right about that, meself, but it does seem a popular line with the rightists on here. Doesn't speak very well of the Sorebutt/Barbie ticket they were complaining that the '08 election had been stolen from, does it?)
