This is an exceptional cover of the famous Miles Davis' track "Blue In Green" by guitarist John McLaughlin (live in London, 1989) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQZg_2oCfBs

Oh, here's the addy for my favorite FATTBURGER song that I forgot to post above!
It's a great song for late at night/ early in the morning.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhZVljHXZck&list=FLiaMPp0XwH5CSqnTadl6HPQ&index=94&feature=plpp_video

And here's two great songs by Sade! I fell in love with her voice the minute I heard it!
Some might consider her "pop" but she's always been a jazz singer to me! Maybe pop/jazz fusion?

Oh I love Sade.  I've seen her twice in concert - so sultry and talented.

Not sure I'd classify her as jazz. Pop/Jazz/Fusion could work!

One thing I (don't) like about her singing is that she either "holds back" or doesn't inhale enough air to get certain notes out strongly enough.

I always perceived that as a conscious truncation.

Didn't someone once say that Jazz is silence carved up by the instruments?

Health,

I think that was Count Basie's line, though I'm probably wrong. There were a lot of minimalists playing jazz before he started getting attention...

Aswad, I imagine it would be conscious if it served to make the sound more pleasant to the ear.

Aswad, oh yes she does sound good but to my ear it just sounds like there's something "missing."

Now, here's a sexy little black dress of a song that I'm sure you and the other Jazz lovers will like by Maysa!

Paco de Lucia, Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin - Mediterranean Sundance (Live in San Francisco version) - this is phenomenal!

I have a half-speed-mastered version of "Friday Night in San Francisco" (vinyl) - beautiful.

You ever get a chance to hear this on a good turntable/cartridge combo with tube electronics and good speakers that can image - it's just breathtaking.
