I love peanut butter. It's the perfect post-workout food. As you pointed out, it's got everything needed to start recovery. I get Schmucker's organic peanut butter, and go through about a jar every four days.

Here's a crazy one I use:

No meat, poultry, fish, eggs

No sugar, honey, maple, syrup, fruit, juice,  no sugar substitutes

No dairy products of any kind

Almost guarantee you'll lose weight.

I went vegan for Lent two years and both years I gained weight. Without meat and animal products to keep me satiated i was always looking for more food, and more often than not it ended up junkfood.

I only ever get jif. Since I keep a jar to myself I just eat it right out of the jar. No cooking or cleanup.

Is the organic supposed to be better?

I dont buy any peanut butter unless its 100% peanuts (so peanuts are the only ingredient). Your Jif is only 90% peanuts, it contains peanuts, sugar, palm oil, contains 2% or less of: salt, molasses
I cant eat jif or any peanut butter that has sugar or any other sweetener in it, its just too sweet for me... I am not picky about it being organic tho

I just looked at the ingredients, and on the Smucker's (man, butchered that name in my last post) Natural Peanut Butter, the ingredients are: Peanuts, Contains 1% Or Less of Salt.

After eating Smucker's Natural, I won't ever go back to other kinds, much as I miss Peter Pan with honey.

Right now i have Adams 100% natural Peanut Butter Crunchy in my fridge (it does have a little salt-1% or less). When i am in OC, there is a store there (Mothers Market) and they have a little machine that you put peanuts in and it grinds it there for you fresh, on the spot, so its only peanuts..

eta- the Adams jar says its made by Smuckers so the same stuff as Lazarus, just different name.

This is what I get, too.  I can't stand brands like Jif or Skippy - way too sweet for me.  Too much sugar.

FR

I get the natural almond butter....The only thing in it is almonds, and once I stir it up, I keep in the fridge and I don't have to stir it every time I use it. I use it just like PB.

I've only ever had jif. And its the only brand most truck stops carry. But ill try Walmart and see if I can find 100%. I'll see how it taste. I know once I stopped eating white bread I couldn't stand the taste of it afterward.

Did you give up sugar as well?

Vinegar and oregano sandwiches and also corn flakes with soya sauce.

I wasn't trying to lose weight. I was skint and had nothing else in the cupboards.
