I think it's not as simple as that.

It is to the people whose paychecks are good, and showing up regularly, which is more than I can say for a bunch of local people who got hired into our nifty new, massively subsidized with borrowed money "green" economy, and got told they were out of work, at quitting time on a Friday afternoon right after Christmas.

Not a damn thing to be found in the online press. There's a story from yesterday that the new CEO of the company is taking the job at far less than the last guy sucked up of our money, and the 75% drop in their stock prices from a few weeks ago, but on a holiday weekend, I guess I shouldn't be surprised none of the bigger media have it yet.

Rich, I just wanted to add a clarification for everyone's sake.  This is money flowing INTO the US economy.  Had the exact same purchase been made by the US DoD, we would have had to pay for it.  Essentially, this is like a stimulus that does NOT add to our debt.

I know the money will be flowing in... the question remains is how much into the economy and how much into corporate coffers.

Oh that......the usual.

The president hasn`t "changed" that either.....[:D]

So all this talk of change - just a slogan, and nothing more?

Bushs third term, and thats just alright with you? [:)]

As if any of those running against him would be any different. [8|]

TheHeretic -> RE: US missile sale (12/31/2011 4:21:43 PM)

Umm, Tazzy? You do realize that "corporate coffers" are part of our economy, right? What you think of as Scrooge McDuck's money vault, a lot of people think of as their 401k.

tazzygirl -> RE: US missile sale (12/31/2011 4:30:52 PM)

That you will have a hard time proving to me, Rich. Sitting on millions, or even billions, to me is not stirring the economy.

tweakabelle -> RE: US missile sale (12/31/2011 4:42:12 PM)

It appears that US missile Patriot technology is being shipped off to China anyway, via a less than official route by one the US's "allies"

Can you translate that into human? And try to make sense?

I don`t recall the president campaigning on lowering arms sales.

We know you didn`t like your bush but we`re quite happy with our president, thank you very much.......[:D]

Am I understanding you correctly, Tazzy? Are you saying, for example, that the little bit of money I try to tuck away for a rainy day or a getaway, shouldn't be mine to control, and use when and how I see fit?

tazzygirl -> RE: US missile sale (12/31/2011 4:52:54 PM)

No issue with "little bit" Rich. Huge issue with billions in this economy, especially with a company that uses the government to secure their contracts.

How many did they lay off in the last few years?

How many will they rehire?

Im hoping that many back.

Im not banking on it.

Owner59 -> RE: US missile sale (12/31/2011 4:53:59 PM)

Not everything`s about you rich......sorry.

TheHeretic -> RE: US missile sale (12/31/2011 5:33:38 PM)

Either what people have worked for belongs to them, Tazzy, or it doesn't.

tazzygirl -> RE: US missile sale (12/31/2011 5:46:54 PM)

Who worked for all that money companies are sitting on right now, Rich?

TheHeretic -> RE: US missile sale (12/31/2011 6:07:41 PM)

Don't go all "power to the workers," on me Tazzy. When a homeowner sells his house, the gardener doesn't get a cut.

tazzygirl -> RE: US missile sale (12/31/2011 6:11:35 PM)

That has nothing to do with the economy in the dumps, interest rates at near non-existent levels as a result, and big business making loan after loan, sitting on piles of money while claiming they cant afford to hire anyone.

TheHeretic -> RE: US missile sale (12/31/2011 6:41:21 PM)

It has everything to do with it, Tazzy. If you want to go with a preference for the economy to run by government dictate, then call yourself a communist, I'll insult your intelligence for believing in a stupid utopian fairy tale, and we can move along.

tazzygirl -> RE: US missile sale (12/31/2011 6:50:01 PM)

You already have.

Lucylastic -> RE: US missile sale (12/31/2011 7:06:21 PM)

Its a shame that the "dictionary " version of communism and Taz's actual beliefs are so far apart, thats it renders your post...moot.
truly Rich ... your posts are sounding more shrill.
If YOU cant tell the difference between political stances, what hope is there.

TheHeretic -> RE: US missile sale (12/31/2011 7:07:56 PM)

Trust me, Tazzy, no, I haven't.

Now here's a question for you. In these tough times, is it better for me to sit home tonight in a darkened house, in unity with those enduring current hardships, or go try and stimulate the local economy by drinking in a bar, and giving a taxi driver a little work?
