I'm keeping it down low and easy, Lucy, but if the fruits of individual endeavor are community property to be used by directive from above, what else have you got to call it?

The United States has reached a deal to sell $3.48 billion worth of missiles and related technology to its close Mideast ally, the United Arab Emirates.

Wary of Iran, the U.S. has been building up missile defenses of its allies, including a $1.7 billion deal to upgrade Saudi Arabia's Patriot missiles and the sale of 209 Patriot missiles to Kuwait, valued at about $900 million.

Question... how much of this money will actually end up in the US coffers?

All of it...but we'll trade some of it for oil, ergo....none of it.

It's a fucked up world.....hence why I'm a fan of Ron Paul.

On the other hand, he said a few days ago he wouldn't use force against Iran if they were to develop a nuclear weapon.

I like his concepts of staying the fuck out of everyone else's biz...but it seems to me there are occasions where we need to be a bad neighbor.

(It just seems like we're always a fucking bad neighbor).

So we are keeping Americans who make things employed. This is a problem?

I doubt we'll be selling many Chevy Volts over there, y'know?

Yeah but Heritic...it's still fucked up.

Why the hell are we involved in anyone's shit?

Because it's profitable, of course.

I do know if we don't stay involved in other people's shit....they'll be over here shortly but....again I ask....why the FUCK are we always involved in other people's shit?

It just seems so wrong to me.

Boeing makes the F15 and St Louis is pretty happy about the 30B deal. Myself I wish we would stop selling any weapons to any body…makes for nothing but more death and destruction.

Its a shame that the "dictionary " version of communism and Taz's actual beliefs are so far apart, thats it renders your post...moot.
truly Rich ... your posts are sounding more shrill.
If YOU cant tell the difference between political stances, what hope is there.

Its ok, Lucy, Im done with it.

These deals are small change when one considers that, in the last week, the US has announced:
* a $30 billion deal with Saudi Arabia to supply 70 new jet fighters and upgrade existing ones; and

* an $11 billion deal with Iraq to supply tanks and other weapons.

I, for one, was unaware that the region was suffering from a shortage of arms.

Well, I suppose we could always jack up the prices on corn, soybeans, and wheat. A bushel for a barrel, anyone?

I think it's not as simple as that.

It is to the people whose paychecks are good, and showing up regularly, which is more than I can say for a bunch of local people who got hired into our nifty new, massively subsidized with borrowed money "green" economy, and got told they were out of work, at quitting time on a Friday afternoon right after Christmas.

Not a damn thing to be found in the online press. There's a story from yesterday that the new CEO of the company is taking the job at far less than the last guy sucked up of our money, and the 75% drop in their stock prices from a few weeks ago, but on a holiday weekend, I guess I shouldn't be surprised none of the bigger media have it yet.

That it's profitable isn't in question. So are a lot of things that aren't that simple.

Rich is going for the fake "woe is me" tact but his right to keep what`s his was never challenged.More self-absorbed hijacking.

On the bigger picture , the morality of the US being the world`s biggest supplier of arms......?

Would you rather nations get their arms from the 2nd and 3rd largest suppliers of weapons....the Russians and the Chinese communists?

And unless we`re doing the devil`s work by supplying both sides in a war, so they eat each other up(Reagan/Bush policy,Iran-Araq),or supply terrorist groups like the contras,I don`t see anything wrong with being the #1 arms supplier.

It`s not wrong to be the arsenal of freedom.

If the president was a political coward like bush and his ilk are,he wouldn`t have pushed the Israelis to make peace, introduced his healthcare insurance reforms or sued states like Az over their imagration laws, ended DADT,sent MORE troops to Afghanistan ,etc.

Rich, I just wanted to add a clarification for everyone's sake.  This is money flowing INTO the US economy.  Had the exact same purchase been made by the US DoD, we would have had to pay for it.  Essentially, this is like a stimulus that does NOT add to our debt.

I still want to see copies of the cancelled checks. ("freedom of information act?")
And how much did the lobbyists on K Street make off of this deal?
It seems that anytime we do business with a foreign govt. they get a piece.

$0 after paying back the US creditors such as the UAE and China, cut out the middleman and give the missiles away for free. Have these missiles been adapted at all for their new anti-protestor role? Are they are now surface to civilian.

I think the UAE just love buying military things they aren't ever going to need to use, surprised someone hasn't tried to sell them an underwater helicopter.

Dumbing it down for a me is like teaching your granny to suck eggs, it just pisses granny off so she pees in your wheaties.
