Status: offline 		The United States has reached a deal to sell $3.48 billion worth of missiles and related technology to its close Mideast ally, the United Arab Emirates.

Wary of Iran, the U.S. has been building up missile defenses of its allies, including a $1.7 billion deal to upgrade Saudi Arabia's Patriot missiles and the sale of 209 Patriot missiles to Kuwait, valued at about $900 million.

Question... how much of this money will actually end up in the US coffers?

Status: offline 		Well it wouldn't be THAT money. That is "different" money. They way it works is simple, the taxpayers pay the contractors, Arabia "pays" the US government and the money just goes away.

They spend every dollar they can print, what do you think they will do with proceeds from the actual sale of our leading export ?

It's not so much that the money would disappear into thin air, it's just that they would spend it on something - officially that is. The money was actually spent years ago. But they would spenf it again, probably on something more useful, like defense against a popular uprising - in the US.

I would expect all of it to go there, minus any kickbacks to the ruling family.

Ignoring the military and political effects and treating this as a pure economic issue, it's nothing more than an export.  Americans do work and money is pumped into the national economy.  It goes directly to the defense contractor that builds the missiles, and it is spent on
Employee and contractor salaries
Raw materials used on the missiles
Increase in company value or else dividends (i.e., the stockholders benefit)

Sure it was. It's just that the benefits are mostly going to the golden hammer people. For the peons of the country, about a hundred people get a few forty hour weeks and the shareholders get about two bucks.

And the royals need those kickbacks for bribes, errrr lobbyists.

It will work out better than than what I was just reading in my local paper. It seems that one of our huge local solar projects, with $3 billion in government funding for the company, just laid off half the workforce yesterday afternoon. This one could make Solyndra look like small potatoes.

Do you think thats why the Nobel committee preemptively gifted him with the "peace prize"

Or do you think (more likely) that he was a totally naive fuck on the campaign trail, and that he only became a huge fucking neocon pig (or whatever they call him among the hippy communes) when his eyes were opened by seeing the inside story behind current world events

Rich, I just wanted to add a clarification for everyone's sake.  This is money flowing INTO the US economy.  Had the exact same purchase been made by the US DoD, we would have had to pay for it.  Essentially, this is like a stimulus that does NOT add to our debt.
