Santa's image in the part of the world is pretty one-dimensional. He's invariably described as "evangelical/fundamentalist/deeply religious and social conservative". His insane belligerent views on Iran got a bit of an airing recently. This tells us he's learned nothing from the Iraq fiasco - not an encouraging sign. The "economic policy" MSLA presented reads more like an ideological wish list - long on rhetoric, short on practical detail, uncosted, vague and distinctly un-original. In real terms, or as a blueprint for economic recovery, it's meaningless. Whatever his other merits or demerits may be, he needs to broaden his image and appeal beyond the narrow sectarian looney Right ideology he has championed to date. Unfortunately if he runs true to form, he's going to increase his interventions in the bedroom, not address the many urgent economic, domestic and foreign policy issues confronting the USA. Heaven help any member of any minority group (except the religious Right) coz Santa's got you lined up in his sights and this time, he's really coming to get you.
