The more I listen to this guy, the more I like him. I realize he's too middle-of-the-road for the GOP and I think it's a shame. He just comes across as a good guy who has his shit together. For a beer, I'd want to sit down with Rick Perry. He just seem like someone fun to party with but for leadership and maturity, I like Huntsman way better. ::sigh:: I'm probably too middle-of-the-road myself. I guess, all in all, there really isn't that much difference between politicians but still, this one has me going hmmmm.. as an alternate choice.

We'll see if he stays in it for any length of time. Santorum was at the bottom for a long time and this is the cycle of rise and fall fast so, who knows... maybe Huntsman will get a two or three week bump as well.

Fareed Zakaria interviewed him on his show, GPS (Global Public Square). It's on iTunes.

Im going to slide this in under your thread, Bita.

The ad features Gracie -- whom the Huntsmans adopted after she was found abandoned at a Chinese vegetable market aged two months -- and Asha, who was abandoned in a rural Indian village.

Interspersed among the images are short text messages, including: "The Manchurian candidate: What's he hiding?" "American values, Or Chinese?" "Weak on China? Wonder Why?"

http://news.yahoo.com/paul-repudiates-attack-china-jon-huntsman-231723586.html

This is an ad supposedly questioning Huntsman's loyalty. It was said to have been made by a Ron Paul supporter. Someone on Paul's web site said it was Huntsman, others believe its a third party. Frankly, its sounding like a huge conspiracy theory.

~ETA

Forgot to include the Paul site...

I don't think Huntsmans problem is being too middle of the road, rather, I think he's just been too nice. Accepting the ambassador post in the Obama administration is easy enough to deal with: When the President of the United States asks you to serve, you do it, but he needed to come into the race swinging some heavy criticism.

That said, this has been a doorknob primary season - everybody gets a turn. He might be due up next, and the timing could be just right.

The good news about him is that he's still young.  He's clearly not favored this election cycle, but he could be back.

It pisses me off no end that the fact that he's willing to work with Dems is being portrayed as a fatal flaw.  As though gridlock is a goal.  Compromising and dealing with others has been a basis of Congress for decades, and until Congress rediscovers civility and compromise, we'll be stuck with a government where passing a routine budget takes months and is self-hailed as a massive achievement.

You'd prefer four more years of hope and change, then? He's been a governor, and ambassador to China, rides a Harley and can play some heavy prog-rock keyboards. If he finds some momentum, and some fire in his belly for the job, I say that's the wagon to board.

Maybe they need to start on the budget as soon as they get back from Christmas/New Year/Valentine Day/April Fool Day/Easter break and before going on Memorial Day/Fourth of July/ Labor Day break. Instead of waiting until after Labor Day.

Ummm... I'd vote for toe-jam over the fucking ass-hat currently in the Oval Office.  Not being fond of Huntsman doesn't mean I favor O'Fuckhead.

I'll support whomever the nominee is... but haven't really settled on one as of yet.  Here's where I'm personally at thus far:

Romney -- Seems Presidential and fair minded, but not crazy about RomneyCare.

Gingrich -- Smart fucker, but maybe TOO smart... the whole "paralysis by analysis" thing.

Santorum -- Good ideas (re: Manufacturing and such), but might put too much emphasis on "social issues" and all.

Perry -- Stick to being a Governor... ain't got it on the national stage.

Paul -- Friggin' daffy nut-job

Huntsman -- Typical politician... don't trust him.

I didn't know Huntsman had adopted two Asian girls - but I'm definitely impressed to discover his wife and he have adopted the wee things. While he's probably far too conservative for my tastes, the little that I know about Huntsman puts him in a class far above the other lunatics running for the GOP nomination. He's sane, intelligent, charismatic and I've never heard his integrity questioned.

It seems indicative of the extent of far Right's stranglehold over the GOP that the only electable candidate is the least likely to win the nomination. For as long as this situation holds, expect a Dem occupant of the White House. This does make me wonder how long the GOP will hold together - if there is a centre and left left in the GOP, how long will they tolerate being shut out of power by the loonies of the far Right? How long before they consider their chances of going alone, or forming a new centrist grouping with other moderates look better than remaining in the GOP?
