But, yeah Clinton is a draft dodger. My dad was to.
If I had been a guy and eligible I might
have been to. But Bill, my dad and I
aren't neocon hawks.
I wouldn't want to be in a foxhole with
Bill or Newt but at least Bill's a little
sheepish about his dodging. I think
Newts lack of sheepishness and his
tendency to saber rattle is what Paul
was gleefully pouncing on.

No, he didnt. He had to make calls, call in favors, seek ways, make deals to avoid what he didnt want to do.

Im not saying I blame him... but at least Gingrich did have a valid excuse instead of a bunch of wishy washy ones.

Moonhead -> RE: Ron Paul ends Newt's Candidacy... (1/8/2012 12:56:33 PM)

Is "I'm a pussy and I don't want to get shot" really a valid excuse?

DaddySatyr -> RE: Ron Paul ends Newt's Candidacy... (1/8/2012 12:58:57 PM)

Not everyone is fit to serve. In this there is no shame. Not everyone is fit to do brain surgery, either. The issue with Gingrich is that he desperately wants to wrap himself in the flag (of course he does. He's a politician.) but he can't and it really pisses him off.

I think that if the Republicans ran an honest-to-goodness "war hero", this election wouldn't even be a contest (but, I said the same thing about General Powell, back in the day).

Peace and comfort,

Michael

A lot of Viet Nam vets have shown that grace about
ones who dodged. I have a cousin who was
maimed in that war, suffers today from PTSD,
his whole life has been shadowed by his service.
But he doesn't judge harshly those who
didn't go. My stepdad is retired military and
saves his distaste for what he calls the
weak shitters. Ones who got out legally but
try to rewrite their personal histories as
eager and disappointed they didn't get to go.

It's not hard to see why former servicemen would take a very dim view of that one. It's a terrible insult, when you put it like that.
(I like that phrase "weak shitters" as well.)

tazzygirl -> RE: Ron Paul ends Newt's Candidacy... (1/8/2012 1:05:39 PM)

Thats something Clinton never tried to do.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Ron Paul ends Newt's Candidacy... (1/8/2012 1:16:34 PM)

Dont say Newty is done so fast. 5 Mil just hit his war chest.

Moonhead -> RE: Ron Paul ends Newt's Candidacy... (1/8/2012 1:18:48 PM)

Yes, I was thinking more of Gringrich than Clinton.
(That is, frankly, one of the things I admired about Clinton: he never said: "I would have served, but..." he just made his excuses and left it at that. When you're standing against the last Republican with a war record that wasn't a complete joke, it shows a bit of backbone, doesn't it?)

I didnt say he was done... lol.. not yet anyways. Yeah, this may have given him a bit of a discolored eye, but he isnt out yet.

Had he tried, Clinton would have been wearing that black eye everyone wants Newt to be wearing now.

Moonhead -> RE: Ron Paul ends Newt's Candidacy... (1/8/2012 1:27:40 PM)

Well, there is that. Bush prime had a lot more backbone than any Republican since has shown. It's possible to quite admire the man around his politics, and who've they dug out since you could say that about?

Moonhead -> RE: Ron Paul ends Newt's Candidacy... (1/8/2012 1:28:51 PM)

(I'd rather see Gringich manhandled by his exes than his opposite number, though. With blunt implements.)

Lucylastic -> RE: Ron Paul ends Newt's Candidacy... (1/8/2012 4:36:53 PM)

I just watched the whole freaking clusterfuck
God why do I do this to myself
but I havent heard so much pus and lies come ooozing out of mouths since the last debate.
Id seriously love to zap the fuckers.
They go from Reagan to now without mentioning the clusterfuck caused by bush 1&2 how can anyone take them seriously.

popeye1250 -> RE: Ron Paul ends Newt's Candidacy... (1/8/2012 11:33:41 PM)

Yup, Newt thinks he's,....."an Alpha male" but after his draft dodging he was permanently a "Delta male."
Clinton too. "Alpha males" don't run from a fight especially when it involves their country. So now they can sniff the Bravo dog's arse!
And, did he really think that The American People would forget that he was instrumental in getting us involved in that disaster called "NAFTA?"
He was up to his shoulder in that shit!
So many people over the last month in Yahoo News articles about him have brought that up.
The American People didn't forget!
Newt was a power hungry meglomaniac.

We have our primary here in a few weeks so I'll have to declare myself "Republican" to vote as they don't have a primary for Independents.
And no Democratic primary probably because they know they're going to lose anyway. Now if there (was) a Democratic primary of course I'd vote in that![:D]
I'll probably vote for Ron Paul even though it appears that Mitt Romney has the big "Mo" and, he's not such a bad guy, he's an outstanding manager and businessman.
I doubt we'll have to be reading about him hitting the nightclubs and fooling around with women other than his wife or partying with "Bono" and snorting up half a pound of cocaine on a weekend like,.....ahem.
He's a real square and doesn't even drink coffee! If I see him on the news once a month that'll be too much.
Just manage the country and stay away from "social experiments" ala Clinton and Oblunder.

What about someone who used Senator Daddy's connections to get into the guard and then went on 'the rubber chicken circuit' campaigning for one of Senator Daddy's friends instead of doing much soldiering?

I see. So if Newt was on the left, you would have been ok with it? In fact you might have joined him.

The only thing I can think of is you are really a hard core masochist. Personally I would rather watch the weather channel than sit through one of those pissing matches. Lucky for me I have more choices than that.[8D]

Ummmm Bill`s a democrat......try to follow along and at least read the post before going off topic AGAIN.

You might want to reread it yourself. The part I highlighted said Bill wasn't a "neocon hawk". That is why he and the dad get a pass. Now I doubt you will see the hypocrisy of calling someone out on something they did, but accepting it from others, but other people will.

Paul routinely reminds us of all sorts of clusterfucks caused by both parties. And Perry mentioned Iraq...when he said he'd reinvade! Maybe that's his way of tapping into the "occupy" movement. [sm=biggrin.gif]

Obama is running unopposed... why in the hell would they need a primary?
