Ok, I'm one of "those guys" who has a thing for the term "mistress". I don't know why, it's simple, traditional. I think I'd feel weird using other terms, at least the first few times I did.
But, this is why I never use those terms, until told which one.

See?

It's what it is.

It's a bit of an irritant to me to be called anything on here other than Fornica, or my real name, in messages..although I realize (sometimes) the intention is good.
In a D/s situation, I do use Mistress, only for lack of a term I would like better. I haven't thought of one yet. I hate the whole Goddess/queen crap.

I prefer "Master of the Supreme Universe"

(Said, of course, in the most submissive of ways).

There is a local woman who launches into a RANT if you call her "ma'am". Very unseemly.

I say we kill her.

Maim her.....tear her into unknowable shreds.

Dishevel her, as if she never existed.

I cannot stand Mistress, Goddess, and the like. Miss and Ma'am are my favorites if I'm in a dynamic with someone already. If we're not in a dynamic with each other, my first name is fine.

Your first name is "Fine"?

(Kinda unusual but....wtf....who am I to say?)

LookieNoNookie -> RE: Don't call me "Mistress," call me "Chief." (1/10/2012 6:59:20 PM)

(I've never known anyone by the first name of "Fine".  That's different).

I'd like to quote from my absolutely FAVORITE one-handed read, "The Guide to the Correction of Young Gentlemen"  written anonymously by "A Lady"  in 1920, later identified as Alice Kerr Sutherland.  She was a real-life head mistress of a boys school...and later found that her skills applied to, er....boys of all ages, shall we say?  Nothing in the book is sexual specifically...but they obviously figured out that it wasn't a book for governess' and it was banned and burned in 1924.

Anyhow: there is a chapter on behaviour expectations, this section under the header : "Respect"
"Pupils address me as "Madam" at all times--I barely tolerate Ma'am" and both "Mam" and "Mum" are entirely unacceptable.  I will accept "Miss" from new pupils until they have been instructed differently.  Young gentlemen rise to their feet whenever I enter the room, and whenever I address them directly "Young ladies" also rise on these occasions, but curtsey whenever they are given a command.  Any failure in elementary politeness--I make allowances for lack of instruction--is answered by corporal punishment."

[just a note here:  "Young Ladies" refers to boys who wish to be dressed/treated as girls...yep! even in 1920!]  Let me tell you, the section on spanking is exquisite.

FUCK that whore!!!!

Her eyes are too close together!

That's a sure sign of criminal neglect if I ever saw one!

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Don't call me "Mistress," call me "Chief." (1/10/2012 7:49:35 PM)

Whoa! She *does* have beady little eyes!

And Hausboy, I l,ove that book!

I can see why women, especially, might feel that way. Shame - I can get turned on just by saying the word to myself.

'Mistress', though - nup. It sounds corny to me. But if it had the right effect on her - well, I'd get used to it and eventually enjoy it. Likewise 'boss', 'chief', or simlar.

Totally.
It's my absolute fave.  I actually had a copy STOLEN from my apartment.  I was really pissed--it was an early edition.  It took me a year to find another hard copy of it.  It is truly the BEST book on corporal punishment that I've ever read--you can totally"hear" the voice of the author.....and just knowing the era she wrote it, the torrid history...makes it hotter!

And for those who don't like "Madam"...she does have a chapter on the "the Goddess" and "the Mistress".

Me too!  Nothing is hotter than saying "Yes Ma'am" and knowing that it is said out of respect, admiration, and pure submission.

Actually calling someone Ma'am is a real turn on for me.

No worries, Niney, you're assured a place in the harem!
