That is just sad. He's grossly overstepping the bounds of his mandate, and without the tact, sensitivity and overall humanity of his predecessor, who was focused on making headway on issues that were shared among humans across denominations, rather than these hot button topics that are only destructive to latch on to, regardless of what one might think about the matter. By now, he should know that he isn't exactly the most charismatic person around, and if he paid any attention to his predecessor, he should also know that the position can only be as viable as the person holding it. It's a bit early to expect the cardinals to start greasing the stairs, but this doesn't exactly count as a good move by a pope elected as an interrim due to an unresolvable tie, tearing down so much positive momentum.
